Simon Cowell ain't afraid though. On last night's "American Idol" a young guy came on who had a high falsetto voice and Simon said "you should be wearing a dress and stilettos." Bravo brotherman! Well done, well done. As long as he stays away from remarks about the appearance they were born with it doesn't cross the line.
I honestly don't know how they do it, it astonishes me. I have a piece of Gouda with some Grey Goose the night before and the next day I can't get a clean break if you know what I mean.
You know what would be really radical? If a person apologized for something and that was the end of it and we all moved on. I know I'm behind the times here but the guy already said "I'm sorry" and now they mandate 10 days of counseling for his "homophobia". Can you imagine what would happen if he said something against a Jewish gay guy, Mel to the 10th power. People who masturbate your mind
Sorry, I don't watch American Idol or Entertainment Tonight, so I just am not hip to all the controversy on these subjects. Did you watch the State of the Union address the other night though? Any comment from the Z-man on that?
ReplyDeleteThough of course I disagree with certain parts z-man has to say it was a well-written and polished speech, Bush seemed very confident in addressing the nation and confidence reassures people, and I especially liked the part at the end when he introduced heroes like the man who saved an epileptic man having a seizure on the train tracks while a train was coming.
ReplyDeleteIt just that z likes to blog about not the obvious things everyone else blogs about (State of the Union, too easy) but likes to vary the menu with little social and cultural observations. Listening to Sean on the radio everyday is like eating the same thing everyday, wouldn't you agree? The war is depressing, the guy who saved the other guy was uplifting and Bush knew the nation needed some inspiration.
I find it hard to believe people like you and others I've come across who say they watch hardly any tv at all. God bless you though as it's a lot of garbage but I don't like to live that Spartan a lifestyle. We all need to escape from being shellshocked by life and so I'm into movies of late. Again, I'm noticing more and more people who say they don't even have tv's in their homes and I'm a little skeptical is all. It ain't all that bad Beth, there are a few good things worth watching.
What IS the official status of the apology these days? Is it still of any use? Apologies don't seem to cut it anymore, another of my social observations Beth.
ReplyDeleteI don't care for reality TV too much, except I watch "The Apprentice". Other TV shows I have heard are good, but since I didn't start watching them when they started, it's hard to get into an established show. That's why I started watching "Studio 60", so I would know who was who and all the inuendos for years to come (if it stays on that long). But mostly its my addiction to the computer that makes me not watch so much TV. I used to watch a lot more TV, and back then it probably wasn't as good as it is now.
ReplyDeleteBah Hum-bug
ReplyDeleteI wish Rosie would go on American Idiot, she would be a sure winner.
I do like your social commentaries, and even if I don't watch a certain show, even seeing a commercial for it or hearing people talk about it gives me enough point of reference usually to know kinda what is going on outside my little computer focused life. So do carry on, and I will jump in as I can.
ReplyDeleteAs for the official status of apologies, who the heck knows? Look what Bill Clinton gets away with.
How come the Press etc was SO willing to forgive that foul-mouthed pig Mel Gibson who
ReplyDeletehas made himself the poster boy for the abusive, raving, foul mouthed drunken bigoted racists of the world after he apologized. But the press is so hard on Isaiah Washington?
I’ll tell you why, it’s because Isaiah Washington insulted the Gay community alla Rosie O’Fatmouth . Mel Gibson only insulted the Jews!
Being anti-semetic is a sickness. as is being anti-black or anti-Gays They are all Bigots
ReplyDeleteThose who are so shallow as to excuse Mel Gibson for his comments to his alcohol abuse are either ignorant, or Christian apologists who likely hold views similar to Mels, but aren't drunk enough to spout them. There are no other options.
And NO, apologies don't seem to cut it anymore.. Why? because they are SELF SERVING.
Forgiveness is the basis of Christianity, it's not like we can pick and chose who we want to forgive.
ReplyDeleteAnother Sarah posting here I see...
Sorry, I didn't know that tere was a Original Sarah.
ReplyDeleteI'll call myself S.G. Then lol.
What i wanted to say is that I don't pick and chose who we want to forgive.
I pick who I believe.
And I never did believe Mel Gibson.
Apologizes usually work with me. When a friend or family member offended me in the past but apologized later I never analyzed it, I leave that to God. I think there are some who will never forgive Mel Gibson but I think Mel should just move on and not worry over this. People still flock to see his movies.
ReplyDeleteWell, S.G. I hope your plea for forgiveness from someone you wronged never gets turned down because that person doesn't "believe you".
ReplyDeleteTreat others the way you would want to be treated, that is the Golden Rule.
To each his own.
ReplyDeleteI for one will not forgive or believe Mel Gibson NOR will I see his movies.

ReplyDeleteThank God my Friends or Family are not Drunken racists
When Simon said "you should be wearing a dress and stilettos."
ReplyDeleteHe was right..LOL
