The Evolving President

Now if I were a gay man I'd be kind of offended by the President's recent statements that his views on gay marriage have evolved and are evolving but more on that in a minute. Do you want a president who evolves or who has firm convictions? That's not to say that evolving is always a bad thing but how come he doesn't evolve in a more conservative direction? I mean if all bets are on the table and seems to me the AG Eric Holder should at least be defending the DOMA law in court for now as I think it safe to assume most liberals would expect a future Republican president to uphold health-care reform. Now picture yourself a gay man and re gay marriage the president, your president says his views are evolving on the matter maybe even in your direction as seems to be the political consensus now on Obama. Well what do you mean exactly that you are evolving, are we somehow an acquired taste? Is there something distasteful about the whole thing? It took you that long to like us and you're still not there yet? They say Obama is the best friend gays have at the moment but I would think it would be not just social conservatives who would be disturbed by his evolutions of thought:)

Well now, that Depends on whether or not his "Firm Convictions" Agree with Mine. Obama, though, is going to have to Evolve a Whole Bunch before I'll Like him and when I say that, I Mean, of course, in a Conservative Direction.

Duh. Mr. Obama is a liberal. That's why. Would you not find it weird if a conservative president "evolved" in a liberal direction? What's the point here?

"I mean if all bets are on the table and seems to me the AG Eric Holder should at least be upholding the DOMA law for now..."

Where did you get the information that the DoJ is NOT enforcing the law? I mean really. You need to show us where you picked up that WRONG information. The DoJ is enforcing the law, but because DOMA is unConstitutional, the DoJ will not defend any challenges to it in court.

You and many other conservatives fail to understand the difference here, so you wrongly state that the president is not enforcing the law. And you're wrong.

I suggest you go here for more accurate information.

As for your trying to impugn some sort of nefarious reasons to Mr. Obama's "evolving," you're wrong there too. Mr. Obama has always been for civil unions. What he seems to be having trouble with is the word "marriage." He is a Christian, and the majority of Christian thought, as far as I know, does NOT approve of gay "marriage," but would accept "civil unions."

If you remember your history, you'd understand that President Lincoln too "evolved" in his thinking about Black Americans. From believing that they were inferior to whites to accepting them as equals, by emancipating them and giving them the right to vote--a very anti-conservative stand in his day, but very much in concert with the liberal abolishonists of the time.

Lincoln was the FIRST president to allow Black Americans into the White House on inauguration day on the occasion of his second inauguration. Previous to that no Black person, except servants were allowed in the White House.

Now that's what I call "evolving!"

  4. I as well type too fast at times and should have said defending the DOMA law instead so I changed it. Obama in one of his books talks about his evolving on gay marriage and says he may have been "infected with society's prejudices" so that sounds like a liberal teaching moment right there. I am not implying Obama is nefarious here just that the political consensus seems to be he's really a liberal at heart and this may be a signal to his lefty base come 012.
