He zigs when he should zag - "More than five months after the United States captured now-former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, President Donald Trump has again suggested that his administration would try to annex the oil-rich country. The president told Fox News correspondent John Roberts on Monday, May 11, that he was now “seriously considering a move to make Venezuela the 51st state.” His daily news conferences don't help.
Don't understand why he doesn't want to make Puerto Rico the 51st state. It's already a territory. Makes the most sense. Most people would probably be for it. Instead he'll say something like let's make Chile a state or throw a dart at the globe. Dementia on full display.
Z-man... Puerto Rico can't be in play as a state because many people who are fans of Trump and the GOP see it as a Democratic stronghold. To them, it would just add two Dem seats to the Senate.
I suspected that Dave buy he still got a lot of Latino support in the last election. By the same token though Dave would making Greenland or Canada states swing to the GOP? or even Venezuela? The Trump mind is not logical.
Venezuela might go red. Canada would almost certainly go blue. The question on Canada is whether it is one state, or a bunch of states. Only one province in Canada could be seen as going red, that being hyper nationalist Quebec.
I'm guessing Greenland would most definitely swing to the left. Trump in his desire to annex other nations as new states never apparently considered how they would fit into the Electoral College and which way they would lean politically. Only a lust for power and land. Just a dumbass.
I think what the MAGA partisans miss is that America IS mostly center-right. A sane center right politician should be able to crush a Dem Party that is mostly devoid of real ideas. I mean, beyond "Trump is bad."
The GOP used to say strong character, fiscal responsibility, low taxes. Now of course they never delivered, but their rhetoric was sane.
Now they've even lost that.
I still think a mostly fiscal conservative/social liberal could win the presidency. Provided he or she was not a crazy loon.
Fiscally conservative/socially liberal. Before I found my niche in the food industry I had an eclectic work history. At one point I delivered flowers for a wholesale flower company. It was not at all uncommon to come across a gay conservative. One openly gay guy who ran a flower shop very Republican who hated Bill Clinton with a passion. Folks want the country run right no matter what side of the plate you swing from.
So from where I'm sitting he has the attention span of a gnat. He could have signature achievements in his second term most people could get behind like making it easier for the average person to afford to visit the doctor or simplifying the tax code but he loses interest. Seems to prefer starting foreign wars and beating up immigrants.
Don't know where the starting the Iran War came from, but Trump is sorta right, Oran has been a thorn in our side for decades. If you read the fever swamps or the Daily Bugle from the HMS Mothership, you'll see deep in the comments an intense hate for Iran and a desire to see them bombed back to the Stone Age as punishment for taking our hostages in 1979.
You also see a real disgust for both legal and illegal immigrants.
So he's still sitting with a well of support from his base. Even yesterday when he said he doesn't consider how the cost of the Iran War impacts Americans, you can find real MAGA support. They live in the space that says "if this is the temporary cost we must pay" to MAGA, then it's worth it. A small sacrifice to pay for our freedom.
Hannity and MAGA? Of course not. But she would not have started the war. So they would have been critical of her for that. Remember, in the JCPOA negotiated by the Obama Admin, Iran agreed to only use uranium for peaceful non weapon related energy stuff. And agreed to an international inspection regimen, by Russia, China, the US, the EU and the UK.
And the Strait of Hormuz was open.
But Trump tore that agreement up, bombed them and now wants essentially that same agreement. It's the height of idiocy.
Trump is not the contemplative type. Doesn't mull things over. Doesn't consider consequences and ramifications just forges ahead and rationalizes later. Just the kind of personality trait you DON'T want in a leader.
Yes Z-man, she does. But remember the motto on that range... "never is heard a discouraging word". Even if those words are true. She knows in her heart Trump is screwing things up, but she can't change. I'm sure the followers in Jonestown knew something was off too, but still drank the Kool Aid.
Wonder what she pays for gas. I take it you are officially banned there. She seems to have some vague standard for banning. If you annoy her enough that's grounds. BB has irked me at times but for me it never rose to the level.
Yep... I'm banned. I was nasty. In that I posted truthfully and wondered aloud about accuracy, facts and stuff like that. I was once criticized because I would point out her factual mistakes and she did not like that. But perhaps it all came to a head when she said thousands of more ballots had been cast for Dems in Ohio than there were registered voters. When i produced the actual GOP Sec State certified results that said nothing of the sort, she said she didn't need evidence, she knew what she said was true. Her truth she called it.
I might have said that view was stupid. Might have.
Even though she gets way more regular commenters than me I don't think I'd want that bunch. Being proven wrong over something hurts your pride but in my book it's not bannable. You didn't sing from the same chorus was your offense.
Your tax dollars at work - "The Department of Justice is considering settling Donald Trump’s lawsuit against the IRS, which could send taxpayer money directly to the president’s pockets, according to a new report.
Trump sued the IRS and the Treasury Department for $10 billion in January, accusing the agencies of failing to prevent a leak of the president’s tax information during his first term.
The DOJ is now holding internal discussions about potentially settling the case, and what that would look like, The New York Times reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
One option that the DOJ and White House officials are weighing is the IRS potentially ending any audits of Trump, his family members or his businesses," He is no business man, he's a mobster.
"BEIJING (AP) — China’s Xi Jinping warned President Donald Trump on Thursday that their two countries could clash over Taiwan if the issue is not handled properly, an unusually harsh admonition that stood in contrast to the American leader’s praise for his counterpart." The Art Of The Deal ?? The only thing those two have in common is a rather orange complexion.
My take on 2 days in China - Xi Ping brings up the Thucydides Trap. "The "Thucydides Trap" is a political theory stating that when an emerging power threatens to displace an existing great power, the resulting structural fear often makes war between them inevitable." Trump didn't understand a word he said.

Would that we all had the DOJ on our side against the IRS BB.

Nor did I. Never heard of the stuff.
ReplyDeleteOK so Xi is a bigger egghead than Trump. He can go on Jeopardy.
ReplyDeleteAnd Trump on Dancing With The Stars?
ReplyDeleteSaw an ad for the WWF where you can adopt a tiger cub.
ReplyDeleteThey are sort of feral, no?
You see these people posting about stuff like this on YouTube. Then they stop posting after awhile.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Xi and Trump can discuss Beowulf at the next summit.
ReplyDeletespent a couple hours watching Funiest Home Videos. Nice to see that there are people dumber than us, nko?
