Some spiritual musings

"The way of the world is so far along the road to perdition. There is little hope but God's Justice. Mankind has fallen to its lowest depths and it shall be only by a Supernatural Intervention that can save him otherwise he will lay waste his soul to the slavery of Satan" (Message of Feb. 4, 1989 from "Our Lady's Message of Mercy to the World", copyright 1997 - Friends of the Mother of the Divine Mercy - 46 Ash Grove, Glencairin, Dooradoyle Co., Limerick Ireland, Nihil Obstat: Dublin 22 March 2000, Rev. Brendan Leahy DD., Deputy Censor Dublin Diocese - Printed with ecclesiastical permission, ISBN 1-899177-08-6) Our Lady of Fatima: "Look, my child, don't be surprised if, at a certain moment, a certain diabolical disorientation affects the best of minds, a disequilibrium, so that they no longer judge according to the voice of My Son and of Peter." The Secret of La Salette: "In the Last Days Rome itself will lose the Faith and become the seat of the Antichrist."

I am convinced that the general nastiness in the air today is due to the prevalent modern disbelief in Hell. St. Augustine taught that man can be good and repent and avoid sin out of imperfect contrition, that is, an overriding fear of Hell, perfect contrition being when you do good out of goodness sake. Both are acceptable in the eyes of God but the latter is obviously better. Take away the punishment though and many people let themselves go, making fun of the retarded, taking their spouses to the cleaners in nasty divorce battles, getting your rocks off and heading for your friendly neighborhood abortion clinic to clean up the mess, starving your incapacitated relative to death who has become a burden on you and your finances. You can see the "wave of diabolical disorientation" that Sister Lucy of Fatima fame said would sweep over the world during the Latter Times, for instance in this cultural rut we're in, the attitude that we can forgive but not forget and it's all acceptable to Jesus. There is an exquisite pain in the sinner who repents, it disturbs and cleanses at the same time, and yet his pleasure at saying he was wrong becomes unacceptable to others and so he is left demoralized and only the angels in Heaven celebrate. This happens in marriages, in friendships, in relations between men and women. Through a subtle shift in emphasis (it's ok to forgive but still remember) the Devil convinces people that this is really the Gospel of Jesus when in fact it is a diabolic counterfeit and people fall for it. You can also see the deceit in the American Catholic Church's annulment industry where the standard used today is one of "emotional immaturity" and presto chango, you have your annulment and can marry in the Church again and validly receive the sacraments.

The famed Third Secret of Fatima is not the impenetrable mystery of the ages that many would have you believe. On Oct. 13, 1963 the German newspaper "Neues Europa" published a diplomatic version that was read by Kennedy, Kruschev and British PM MacMillan that led to the signing of a historic nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani, head of the Holy Office (now the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith), when asked about its veracity said "publish 10,000 copies, publish 20,000 copies, publish 30,000 copies." Compare the last part of the Secret of La Salette ("Rome will lose the Faith ...) with the elements and language of Neues Europa and you have your Third Secret that has been buried in the Vatican archives ever since. On the Right

  3. You know you speak about forgive and forget, but then you seem to think the Catholic Church giving anulments is wrong. Aren't anulments basically giving forgiveness and forgetting?

  4. My problem with annulments is that, basically, an annulment is saying that a valid marriage never existed in the first place. While no big fan of divorce such a split at least acknowledges that a valid marital relationship existed. There are some legitimate grounds for annulment, for example a spouse turns out to be a habitual cheater who never understood the vows in the first place, but the longer you go into a marriage the more uncomfortable I am with annulments. Read Sheila Rauch Kennedy's book "Shattered Faith", about the annulment of her marriage of long-standing to a politician of the Kennedy clan, she even had offspring with the man. As well, the case of John Kerry's annulment of his first marriage of 17 years, a union that produced two children, an annulment that was granted by Archbishop Cushing.

In the old days, pre-Vatican 2, Joe DiMaggio wanted an annulment from his wife so he could marry Marilyn Monroe but Archbishop Sheen said no way in hell buddy (to paraphrase). Nowadays there's a good chance it would have been granted. 5. From "Our Lady's Message of Mercy to the World", message of Sept. 4, 1989 (in church):

"Hello My child. I have something rather important to tell you. Where My Image is honoured and placed in esteem, God will spare all who live through the night of trial that is to come. A most striking wonder will My Image perform in souls who look with love at me" (apparently in reference to the three days of darkness prophesied in the Third Secret of Fatima: "He will fall (i.e. the Antichrist or Beast) and the earth, which will have been in a continual series of evolutions for three days, will open up its fiery bowels and he will be plunged for eternity with all his followers into the everlasting chasms of hell. And then water and fire will purge the earth and consume all the works of men's pride and all will be renewed, God will be served and glorified.")

  6. Here's my take on Padre Pio, I think God gave him great gifts as a test but his holiness went to his head. There is also the story of a blind man who went to see him after hearing of all the miraculous cures attributed to him. The ever sensitve padre said to the young man "which is more important, restoring your sight or saving your soul?" to which he replied "that's a hard choice" and Pio said "yes it is" and so the man remained uncured (what was he gonna do anyway, read a Penthouse or go to a strip club?.

An interesting quote from "Our Lady's Message of Mercy to the World", sometimes she seems to be more angry with her own people than with all the sinners out there:

Sept. 11, 1989 (in church): "So much damage is done I'm afraid by those who do not believe and still come to Church and receive My Son."

  8. oooooh, the mystery deepens

On the copyright page of my copy it says you can e-mail a johnfrancisco@eircom.net for more info and your very own personal copy autographed by Our Lady (kidding). There is also a place up in my neck of the woods here, Friends of the Mother of the Divine Mercy, 6 Hopkins Lane, Armonk, NY 10504. I can e-mail you the telephone # if you like. I'm saving my copy if I ever come across the butterfly lady in my travels. If she sits next to me at church I'll just be nonchalantly thumbing through it you know.

  9. You must have that book with you to have such detailed info at your fingertips, do you carry it wherever you go?

  10. What I like about the new Honda Civics is that you can keep such a readable book in the armrest in the middle between the two front seats. I do have it with me at most times like my friend who carries around the little "Pieta Prayer Booklet" with him in his back pocket. They're not tomes, they're small, and mine has a miraculous image of the BVM, in color, on the cover. There's a passage for nearly every day of the year and many of the same themes I've already mentioned run throughout.

  11. I guess I may have to be content with your bloggings on the little book if I cannot get a copy myself.

  12. The book is really only a very recent event and so give it time. Writings on Fatima didn't come out right away anyway. I think if you write to the addresses I mentioned they can help you.

  13. I also have a copy of this book. It is very hard to come by and you will find that the email address posted no longer exists. This link http://www.communigate.co.uk/ne/medjugorje/page5.phtml states that

"Correspondence for the Devotion to the Mother of Divine Mercy and information on books, cantons, images and scapulars - is available via Marie Bedingfield of Middlesbrough Medjugorje Centre"

I googled on Marie Bedingfield and I believe she may be contacted through this email address, although this email addy appears to be someone elses.

    b_gallagher@btconnect.com

I got the email from this website

    http://crownofstars.blogspot.com/2005/12/easter-pilgrimage-to-medjugorje.html

If this fails try writing to

Middlesbrough Medjugorje, John Paul Centre, 55 Grange Road, Middlesbrough

That's the only address I could find through the Internet. I did not get my copy through any of these channels but through someone else. Hope this helps folks
