Would you vote for Donald Trump?
He's tapping all the right buttons. Wants to bring jobs back to America, has been stroking the seniors over Medicare and has even told Pat Robertson on the Christian Broadcasting Network that he's done a conversion and is now pro-life. Sounds serious about reducing our debt and deficit but on foreign policy looks a little weak, kind of bullshitting his way through. I look at it this way, if he doesn't work out we can always fire him. If it came down to Trump vs. Obama would I vote for the guy? brief and to the point, YES.

Brief and to the point. Fuck no.
ReplyDeleteSo his networth exceeds Romney BFD. I suppose if I filed bankruptcy and shirked my financial obligations I could eventually do the same.
He's a flash in the pan; a populist's wet dream.
Yes - if it was between Trump and Obama.
ReplyDeleteIf was between Obama and Mickey Mouse, I'd vote Mickey Mouse. Hey, at least he has a REAL roller coaster!
ReplyDeleteSoapie I don't think you like anyone besides Ron and Rand Paul. LL and Pam that's the scenario and I agree. I really don't care what Karl Rove thinks either.
ReplyDeleteCan I help it if they're the only ones with any credibility in DC? Gary Johnson makes the list too.
ReplyDeleteGary who?
ReplyDeleteGary Johnson! Former governor of New Mexico.
ReplyDeleteLook, when you get down to the ills this country is presently facing, it ALL leads where?
Answer that question and then you might realize why I'm such a strong supporter of Ron and Rand Paul.
Sorry soap, Gary Johnson sounded like a former game show host or something. Have to chug off to work now:)
ReplyDeleteI would not ever, ever, ever vote for Donald Trump.
ReplyDeleteThe man is by his own admission dishhonest and unethical in his business dealings. He's declared bankruptcy three times, been married three times and has made his millions (by his own admission) in dishonest and unethical real estate practices.
This is who you want for president?
He was quoted in the news not long ago, maybe last week, saying 'I'm not doing it for any other reason. I like winning.'
So.. not because he cares about the country, not because he thinks he can do a better job.. just because he likes winning.
Oh yeah, there's an attitude you want.
Anyway, personally I think this is all a giant publicity/ratings game stunt.
I would not vote for Trump, I might vote for Gary Johnson, is he considering?
ReplyDeleteGary Johnson's been tweeting that he has a big announcement set for tomorrow. The presumption is that he will enter the race.
ReplyDeleteI recall reading up about him before and liking what I read, so I hope he is entering the race.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see Ron, Rand, and Gary Johnson all enter and flood the pool just like the establishment is doing with its crop.
ReplyDeleteI heard a rumour that Trump got a gig on Fox News and I thought it was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHe's their kind of guy, apparently. Family values, patriotism, Truth, Justice And The American Way and all that.
Gary Johnson is in.

But Sat don't you think Bill Clinton lowered the bar?
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for Clinton over Trump hands down.
ReplyDeletehmmmmmm...I was thinking about what you said about Trump's alleged past unethical business dealings but if this were the case wouldn't he be confetti in the wind once the campaign battles really heat up? If there's something there there why would he run? If his policy prescriptions are right for the country and I'm sure we'll hear more I'd vote for him. I really don't think it's his ethics or character but his politics, after all you just said you'd vote for Bill Clinton all over again.
ReplyDeleteVote for Trump?
ReplyDeleteHell, I wouldn't even have a beer with him.
I wouldn't really care to have a beer with him either but besides Saty you folks have to get more specific as to why you don't like him electorally. I also think Seinfeld should have honored his commitment to appear at his son's charity fundraiser at his national golf club in Briarcliff Manor. A commitment and a promise are a commitment and a promise, should have thought about that before he signed on.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on the Seinfeld thing. Simply put, Trump is a banksters best friend. Considering his "wealth" is all credit, they own his ass. I'm not down with the crooked fucking banksters at this juncture (this to say I ever was).
ReplyDeleteRE: "you folks have to get more specific as to why you don't like him.." OK,
ReplyDeleteone of the few times I've agreed with Charles Krauthammer:
"Donald Trump: He’s not a candidate, he’s a spectacle. He’s also not a conservative. With a wink and a smile, Muhammad Ali showed that self-promoting obnoxiousness could be charming. Trump shows that it can be merely vulgar. A provocateur and a clown, the Republicans’ Al Sharpton. The Lions have a better chance of winning the Super Bowl."
Trump isn't a conservative. He even said he wasn't a conservative on the issue of healthcare. You cannot be conservative on some issues and not on others, he isn't one of us and therefore he does not get my vote.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in hearing more from Gary Johnson, Herman Cain and Allen West.
No thanks on Herman Cain. We don't need to pander to more populism by seeking a black republican. Besides, Herman Cain is an apologist for the Federal Reserve. Haven't you kids been paying attention? Those banksters are crooks.
ReplyDeleteOK
ReplyDeleteRE: "You cannot be conservative on some issues and not on others,"
ReplyDeleteSure you can..they are called independents
A rose by any other name is still a rose.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering how pure does a candidate have to be to get soapie's endorsement? Now I've toughened up my position some, conservatives who run on a limited government platform and then when they become mayors and governors get the red-light cams in place, I ain't voting for 'em, no way, no how. BUT that's just me and the beauty of our democracy is I can go into that voting booth and vote for or against someone for reasons others may consider stupid. HOWEVER if a candidate is mostly conservative, say 80% then look I'm pulling the lever. If the only good things out there are Ron and Rand Paul and this guy Gary Johnson that ain't a hell of a big list to work with.
ReplyDeleteThere could be others that are real conservatives who may not run, at least not yet. I think it is too early to pick a candidate, I want to hear more about them. So far, Trump is not saying anything that makes me like him.
ReplyDelete"I'm wondering how pure does a candidate have to be to get soapie's endorsement?"
ReplyDeleteQuite simple really. Credibility.
You can't blather on and on about "Obama's spending" and "Obama's bailouts" and then voted for TARP.
You can't drone on and on about limited government and the Constitution and government infringing on our liberties and then vote for extending otherwise expiring provisions of the Patriot Act.
Ron, Rand, Gary Johnson, and this up and comer Justin Amash.
The media would have you believe that Paul Ryan, Michelle Bachman, et al. are the Tea Party favorites; ya know real true blue conservatives or whatever. Fact is they are sheep in wolves clothing.
I'm waiting to see if I agree with at least 80% of his policy prescriptions. Let's say I find him agreeable so you have your Gary who? candidate, much of it's about name recognition and he really makes the others look dull by comparison. Soap whatcha got against populism?
ReplyDeleteJustin who? forgive my lack of an encyclopedic knowledge of political names, my lack of nerddom. OK so I can't rattle 'em off (quick, who's the Mayor of OshKoshBigosh?. Amash vs. Obama, there ya go.
ReplyDeletePopulism is fine for American Idol and Dancing with the stars but when it comes to politics it's not my bag.
ReplyDeleteIt's like this other bullshit punditry that goes like so:
ReplyDelete"Ron Paul isn't electable."
If you buy that and act accordingly, it's nothing more than a self fulfilling prophecy.
Can you imagine if someone had told Ford (hey, that's preposterous..give it up [combustable engine]).
If coach tells you you'll never make the team and you believe him and give up what do you think is gonna happen?
Sheeple. Baaa Baaaa Baaaa all over the damn place.
See here's where I like populism more in certain cases than you. My definition is when everybody, libs, conservatives and moderates, when everybody across the board in other words says something is just plain wrong that's populism. Westchester 12 News recently had some coverage of all the Yonkers residents complaining about the tickets they got because of those red-light cams, well imo that's a healthy populism and I can't fault any politician for tapping into that. When something is just plain wrong, I used the red-light cam example but the list is pretty damn long so just fill in your own pet peeve. I kinda thought libertarianism for some reason was kinda tied into populism but guess not.
ReplyDeleteLibertarianism is a philosophy; a guiding principle not subject to the direction in which the wind is blowin'.
ReplyDeleteCan you say that of populism? Hardly
Well if we accept Glenn Beck's definition of libertarianism as maximum liberty I'd think it would tie into most populism just fine.
ReplyDeleteBeck stated he thought Julian Assange should be executed.
ReplyDeleteI'm not interested in Glenn Beck's brand of Liberty.
Alot of people feel that way about Assange. Now about Libya and Khadafy seems to me they're going way past their duties imposed by the No Fly Zone. I don't know what I'd call it, geez I don't know, an assassination attempt?
ReplyDeleteYep.
ReplyDeleteFYI: Ron Paul has a new book out titled Liberty Defined: 50 essential issues that affect our freedom
He succinctly states the liberty view on 50 different subjects from A-Z and one of them just so happens to be Assassination.
soap said: "Beck stated he thought Julian Assange should be executed.
ReplyDeleteI'm not interested in Glenn Beck's brand of Liberty."
Well, Assange did commit the crime of rape. Rape's pretty bad. I tend not to favor the death penalty, but if I were to favor it, murderers and rapists would be included, probably.
(By the way, those liars who say he is not a rapist tend to be those who think that being some sort of great journalist should excuse you for justice for your crimes).
