I don't have a position because I think all of your positions are stupid

My take on politics.

  2. Let's say BB I'm a man in search of a position, been searching all my time. Climbed mountains, crossed rivers all in search of the one political truth. Been through soap's anarchy, your big gov't, Sat's socialism, Pat's whatever and every single political philosophy is inadequate. There are serious flaws to every school of thought. If you're a federalist you have to support miscegenation laws should states ever decide to reinstate them, you have to support a brother and sister getting married because you supported gay marriage, you have to support fetal experimentation because you support a woman's right to choose so the searcher, the political seeker is left without a position and continues onward......

  3. You are right, Z-man; there
    are numerous positions in
politics. In some parliamentary systems, this
is met with many parties..and they sort of
    align along their common
    tenets to form majorities.
    Here, we have two basic
    parties and I doubt anyone
    is totally satisfied with
    the positions they take on
    issues. Hence, we have the
    flavors within the parties,
odd little things like GOP Women for Choice, (and of course Democrats for Life) Democrats for Gun Ownership, Neocons, paleocons, bluedogs, yellowdogs. We all agree on some things, but if we ever agree on everything, it would be very suspicious. As Soap would probably say,
"Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber." ~Plato
Keep climbing the mountains and crossing the rivers...the trip is
    informative, if frustrating. :)

  4. Thaddeus McCotter has thrown his hat into the
    ring of GOP presidential
    contenders.

  6. This Andrew Cuomo thing, Giuliani practically praised his victory on gay marriage so I guess Rudy's pretty much stopped trying to please the social cons. Now there's talk of Obama tapping the NY Governor for the VP position and I'm like wait a minute. We still have to discuss his two Supreme Court picks, Sonia and Elena helping to release those 40,000 prisoners in CA. I mean even if people in CA still want to vote for an Obama/Cuomo ticket after all this many of them might be killed off in the next crime wave and yet nobody and I mean nobody's talking about this. Politics is Surreal.

  7. I've been where I'm at since 85 (and I was too young to vote then), so I'm going to go ahead and say it's forever.

I'm not nearly as involved politically as I used to be; there was a lot of activism, protesting, campaigning and all that, but I was young and had plenty of time to do it in. Now I have other priorities and things I need to do, but the principles are still intact.
