Pope Francis passes away one day after meeting with JD Vance

There could have been a heated exchange about migration.  Maybe Trump wants to annex the Vatican.  A Homan/Francis meeting would have been most interesting.  The Breaking News - Pope Francis passes away at 88 after a bout with a long illness.

Kind of controversial among popes.  Not popular among the more conservative Catholics who felt he was confusing in his mixed messaging and didn't exactly uphold Church teaching at all times.  Big on climate change.  More liked among progressives is a fair assessment.

Catholicism an ongoing topic of interest to me.  Varied and diverse.  Catholic prophecy - Fatima and LaSalette.  Rome losing the Faith.  Antipopes.  3 Days of Darkness.  Mystical phenomenon.  The Saints.  Keep getting Padre Pio videos in my YouTube feed.  He said cats are special and God put them into your life for a reason.  I love Church music.  Acoustics in my house of worship are bad.  Can't hear what anybody is saying or else I need an amplifier.  How much money do ushers make?  One Sunday morning usher looks like he came out of Hawaii Five-O.

Vance said he was happy he got the opportunity to meet the Pope.  Francis might have been wondering where is the Christian Brothers?

  1. Wonder if Vance speaks Latin? Yes Pope Francis was on the progressive side, thinking i guess is that we progress, stand still or regress. He sure seemed humble and accessible. What do you predict for the next one? Wonder if Dolan gets to vote? How do they make that black or white smoke- Prince Albert?

  3. Did a quick google BB. Mystery chemicals make the smoke black. Google doesn't say. As for the next one Google says Francis' Sec'y of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin is a top contender. I know as much as you.

  4. Smoke from a chemistry standpoint is black when under oxidized and whte when over oxidized. When I was in Chemical Crops training we had littl machines that made white smoke. The Captain looked and talked like Sammy Davis jr. which was impressive. He went down our line of generators shouthe "hmake hmoke", but mine didn't work. The rest of them sounded like lawnmowers, but we were in such a white cloud I couldn't see. Latin for make smoke is MASCULUM FUMUS, which may be the magic words, dunno.

  5. 'The Saints' mentioned in your post - over 10,000, each with a story. Combine that with 'Church Music' and you ran across my Dad's favorite hymns - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLOv27S7MbQ
When our Bishop died, his wife retired to a farm on a creek south of town where she wandered around with a flock of sheep. Her tombstone shows with with staff and reads 'A shepardess on the green' Ever run across someone with the spirituality of a codfish who was senior acolyte at an Episcopal Cathedral?

  6. My mother had some saint books when I was growing up. Would brave through their stories. Many of them died young with horrible afflicting diseases. There's a patron Saint for everything. Arthritis, cancer etc.

  7. In his meeting with Francis Vance reportedly had a tangle over migration. Vance later said the Pope was obviously seriously ill so why would you talk about heavy stuff? One can imagine the conversation having been fruitless with Vance always thinking he's right.
