We're not going anywhere, because there never was a policy or goal. The entire illegal immigration response from the US has not been based on actually solving a problem, but rather a sop to the racist base of Trump's followers.
There was a deal to be had to actually fix this.
Get the violent criminals out, close the border and set the remainder of the people here who had committed no crimes, on a path to legal "you still can't vote" residency.
And Trump could have got it done if he was really interested in solving a problem.
But we've seen their real goals as now ALL us entry interviews worldwide are on hold, except for white South Africans who not only get to immigrate here, but get paid to do so!
The current Admin only wants immigrants who are white.
Small town - they still make house calls. Computer jammed up, GMail went belly up. Fiddled for a couple hours then called my go to computer 'Computer guy (has him painted on the side of his truck wearing a Superman outfit). Called at 10 he came at 11 (and turned out he was allergic to pipe smoke- some super hero) opened window, turned on fan, apologized for 60+ years of pipe smoke in basement computer nook. He got Gmail back, removed Norton security with ESec (half the price, 4 times better, gave me an alphabet notebook for passwords and fixed the mrs. laptop printer, one hour and he was off leaping tall buildings. But no, I ain't watch'n Trump's GOP mid term convention. Can get the report on that other blog.

Read somewhere that ICE has detained some 80-year old green card holder with Level 4 cancer. Meanwhile record Labor Day weekend gas prices.
