The Lindsay Clancy jurors. The Gals don't like contrarianism.
My impression. A strong and dominant group of woke women who wanted to acquit from the get-go. The ones you saw sitting around on nice patio furniture giving an interview. Let's do brunch and talk about it. There was one anonymous woman juror who gave an audio interview and said from the beginning she thought Clancy was probably guilty and might still feel that way. No doubt intimidated by the group vibe. Now on to the main bone of contention the lone male holdout whom they're publicly attacking and who prefers to remain anonymous. Wasn't going along with the not guilty by reason of insanity consensus forming and is now being pilloried. The arrogant one who wouldn't listen, the phone scroller who couldn't get past the fact that Lindsay Clancy viciously murdered her own children as one female juror put it. Yeah what's wrong with the guy? Another male juror went along with the women in the end but tried to be semi-reasonable in an interview but he too had issues with the lone holdout.
I too had reasonable doubt. I have a reasonable doubt that Lindsay Clancy is innocent by reason of insanity. Judicial conundrum
We learn that the sole hold out was a black man. He had a restraining order against him by his wife who later divorced him and beat up his nephew. De Santis offered him sanctuary in Florida. So he lied to get on the jury for starters. What a mess. Ever been on a jury? Ain't no party for nobody.

ReplyDeleteThe default setting here is that Lindsay Clancy is innocent by reason of insanity. It is the socially correct position to take. It's one of those subjects you're only allowed one position on (see a previous blogpost). Getting back to the nub of the matter in order for this to be literally true she had to literally not be aware she was strangling her own children when she committed that horrendous act. Theoretically possible but that's a high bar but everyone's acting like this is the reasonable position to take. The jury foreman was all excited in her own words when she started signing the forms for an acquittal which pretty much shows she was biased going in although she probably lied saying she could be objective to get on the jury since we're now on the subject of lying. Then the black guy who doesn't fit the left-wing narrative stymied everything.

To flesh this out some more here's where it gets tricky. Road rage insanity defense? After all we all have stressors in our lives and many drivers may already be on a myriad of drugs. The Manson crew you could say were definitely insane but at the same time they were rightly held to be fully responsible for their actions. Or is this only a narrow childbirth thing?
ReplyDeleteProsecution's case was basically a truly psychotic person could not have clearly planned the whole thing as Clancy did. In a psychotic break from reality can such a person even tie their own shoes? I'm no shrink. Was the prosecution not supposed to bring forth such a case? That would seem odd.
Anyway those are my thoughts.
Dunno, Z-Man - after killing her 3 kids, she slit her wrists, jumped through a 2nd story window, broke her spine and got paralyzed. Not quite normal, IMO. Trump has a heck of a time trying to find a jury to pronounce his many revenge victims guilty. Not quite normal either? I think they we have a retrial, you think?
DeleteShe did fly out that window headfirst. Also strange google searches about cutting her carotid artery. Some feel she was feigning psychosis. Not normal indeed but the main issue or problem is the 18 minutes she was strangling her three children with those exercise bands. Did she have any level of cognizance about what she was doing? What did she think they were? That's the nub. Hopefully next time we get a more intelligent jury that can respect differences of opinion. That Henry Fonda character in that old movie. Today he'd be the bad guy.
DeleteAgain not a shrink but in those pics of her 3 lovely children they didn't look like they came fresh out of the womb. How long is the post-party psychosis supposed to last? You can be crazy to a degree but still culpable. That judicial gray area. Can we expect more insanity defenses in the future? After all we have to be a more understanding society no?
