The AmChurch

Bob Novak, in today's column, talks about some major Catholic pro-abortion politicians who received Communion during the two masses celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI during his six-day stay here. They are House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sens. John Kerry, Christopher Dodd and Edward M. Kennedy on the Democratic side and Rudolph Guiliani on the RINO side. The three Dems received the sacred host at Nationals Park in Washington courtesy of Archbishop Donald Wuerl there and Guiliani at Yankee Stadium courtesy of New York Cardinal Edward Egan although I heard on the radio just now that Egan says he was against Guiliani's action and agrees with the Pope's declaration on the matter. I call this the Bob Novak Effect, just like when he nailed Hillary and her plans to get and broadcast dirt on Obama and she immediately denied that so now Cardinal Egan is saying, in so many words, that this impeccable and well-respected journalist of many decades standing has his facts wrong. As I keep saying there's the official Roman Catholic Church headed by the pope in the Eternal City with its official and unchangeable doctrines and dogmas and then there's the AmChurch (American Church). Gotta love that Bob Novak Effect though, it's off the hook.

  1. I discussed this very thing with my mom, she said that the Pope said that each person is accountable for whether they should go to Communion or not and that he or she will have to meet their Maker someday and explain. I had said I thought that Catholic bishops in America actually have said previously the opposite, that pro-abortion politicians should not be given Communion.

  2. I mean don't these people have any fear of God these days? like maybe He has a big computer database on each and every one of us and all He has to do is punch a few keys and here it comes up,

re partial-birth abortion, "hey it's all good" and received the Host the next day - comments: not good

OK, so we don't really know how to get into the Divine Mind and how He judges but don't you wanna hedge your bets a little? know what I'm sayin'? I'll let porno pete have the last word...

  3. like there's certain things i don't even do on christmas eve with the tree just outside my bedroom, even porno is afraid, i'll admit it, i'd rather hang out at the mall before it closes and listen to those carolers. went to confession once years ago, my mom forced me, but anyway i said my share and went to communion like everyone else, i mean isn't it embarassing to be sitting in the back of the church and practically everybody is going up, even people who maybe shouldn't, and i'm sittin' in the back like some reformed serial killer? so i don't really go to church that much anymore. anyway i quickly slipped back into my old ways so even the few times i do go i remain seated. never caused an abortion, i'm not into that scene so i can't imagine these people going up there like that especially one that got married and divorced three times and committed adultery against that newswoman. yeah, even petey is afraid.

  6. I understand the whole Miley Cyrus controversy but my take is that Annie Liebovitz photo isn't that bad although they shouldn't sexualize a 15-year old. Re pete's comments about Xmas I think this is the real reason why the season bothers some folks so, it reminds them there's a Higher Power and they

    ain't livin' right,

and so expurgate the public square of all things spiritual.

  7. Then there was the dad in Austria who kept his daughter locked up for 24 years, and fathered 7 children with her. Pete probably knows better than that, too!

  8. It's the Golden Age of the Psycho. Wouldn't you just love to get them in a room, sit them down for an interview, wave your hand across their face and say "dude, what's up?"

  10. I honestly think Egan has been too busy closing down parishes to worry much about what Giuliani has been doing and anyway it was an old agreement when he was Mayor that he'd sit during Communion. The way I see it Egan is more an administrator than a archbishop of a megadiocese. His predecessor would never have thought to close even one congregation's beloved church. Don't know what Benedict thinks about all this but Egan sure looked worried before the Youth Rally.

  11. They have been closing parishes all around the country, Z-man, I think its sad, too, but you've got fewer priests and fewer people coming to church, so in a way it's what you've got to do.

  12. It really has to do with paying all those sex-abuse victims, even the church's insurance can't cover everything. I don't think it has to do with lack of parishioners, in the past you could have 12 people show up for Sunday mass but the church was always there. I disagree on this one, it doesn't seem like the Christian or Catholic thing to do.
