Why a Hillary vs. McCain contest could swing towards Hillary

To begin even his most "ardent" conservative supporters readily admit he's not 100% or 80% or even 70% conservative,

ERGO (big Latin word for "therefore"),

he has a liberal side which leads me to believe that many of those voters who are liberally disposed, either center or left-of-center would go for him, ergo they might figure if we go for him why don't we just go for her? Ronald Reagan, now he was a bona-fide conservative (for the most part, yeah I'm aware of the deficits rung up during the Reagan years) and he attracted a mainly conservative vote, even those blue-collar Dems who crossed party lines were also social conservatives but the punditocracy (of which z is a member now I guess) says that McCain will garner all kinds of votes. Like maybe the Republican Party, aka the Stupid Party, is shooting itself in the foot over this one and when he loses he'll be hawking Viagra too in a couple years like what's his name? I know this liberal guy, he's a hardcore Democrat and a good friend, and we were talking one day at work, this was a couple years before even these primaries, and he said he wouldn't mind seeing McCain in the Oval Office one day, he was the one who brought up the subject and he went further and said he'd even vote for him, now what does that say?

  1. Good point, Z, why should I want to vote for someone that a hardcore Democrat would vote for? Answer, I don't!

Did you see where I am going Independent?

  2. It's as I've said:

Less of an evil is still an evil no less.

  3. Now why would my liberal friend even be attracted to McCain in the first place and good point soap, I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils, how 'bout the better of two goods? wouldn't that be radical!

  4. Let's print up t-shirts, why don't we? Nah, we would look way too radical.

  6. Let's stretch this even further. In an ideal world you'd have two (or even more but we'll stick to two for now) good to great candidates to choose as your next president. This comes to mind, ever been in love with two women at the same time and you really don't know who you would like to go out with or marry? (for that cult in Texas I guess there's never a quandary, hell marry 'em all!) Both women have different qualities but you like them both for this. Oh hell this is pure dreaming, presidential contests will always be between doctrinaire libs against some way elder statesman the Repubs throw up. Forget I even said this.

  8. Let's stretch it again (the rubber band is about to break, step back), voting for the lesser of two evils is like having two women (or two men for you ladies) whom you really don't want to go out with butya have to choose one of 'em, a "Dating Game" or "Love Connection" with nobody to root for, heck Chuck Woolery is getting a little nauseous, looks a little green, break to a commercial. My friends our fellow Republicans are telling us do the Right Thing and just get in that voting booth and

    assume the position,

very status-quoish, but this is one Independent Conservative who is tired of being reamed 'n' cleaned w/o the vaseline, MacDaddy ain't my type, ok? anyone have a problem with that?

  9. Anyway, I am not sure how having to hold one's nose while voting is doing the "Right Thing".

  11. lol, great idea, but you know I was actually able to vote for Hillary in the primary without getting sick, yet the thought of voting for McCain does sicken me. What does THAT tell you??

  12. Hillary is up 9 points of McCain right now, so your original post seems to be ringing true!

  13. I try to go off the political beaten path every now and then. My God the punditocracy all says the same things these days. I can write Dick Morris' column for him if he wants, I know he likes or expects Obama to win hands down and won't give her a chance and so most other commentators are saying the same thing and echo each other. Little boring for my tastes, like to go out on a limb every once in a while and when I'm proven right z might get some honorable mention.
