thoughts on a cold winter's night

musing while under the influence

They say you need to get that piece of paper to make it in Life but the real problem with Higher Education is not liberal college professors indoctrinating their class in the ways of radical leftism, WGAF?, the eggheads have a right to think and talk but the real issue is the typical liberal arts curriculum is so impractical. IMO you can't force someone to like the Bard or learn calculus and I've as yet to use higher math in my day-to-day affairs. You need to hone in and zone in on what truly interests you and that's where your trade or technical school is far better. Two years of college was enough for me, I now know who Jean-Paul Sartre was so I can now drop it in my blogging and impress everybody, yip-tee-doo! Like my chef friend says in France someone who knows how to cook is revered, over here you're kind of considered a failure, you're not up there on the same par with a clinical psychologist with a built-in pool in his backyard and a tennis court. People like you, oh you can cook? but like THAT'S IT??

Thoughts during Catholic worship. Nowadays practically 95% of the congregation goes up to Communion. Me? maybe half the time, the other half I don't feel worthy, there's something about the slime of sin, nothing major mind you but these folks who go up every Sunday without fail, are they that good?? I'm not buying it. Now the ones who sit it out, the few in the back who stick out like sore thumbs, the 40-something guy in the rear, you can't help but wonder what he did. It's none of my business but I think it involves a porno.

I have a beautiful view from my window during those bone-chilling winter nights. I can see downtown Yonkers and parts of Manhattan and there's just a gorgeous view of the GW Bridge. Life is good but I don't know why.

Seems to me they should have a system in place, some kind of heating cables under our roads right now so driving in January and February would be a breeze. Futuristic you say? well we found time to put a man on the Moon but we're like supposed to be some advanced civilization no? Of course this would cut into bailout money but you know at least have a theory in place by now.

Reminds me I have to get some eggnog, special blend later.

  1. Catholics are anti-abortion. They are not pro-life. What kind of life does a former abused Catholic child grow up to have? Why isn't sexual child abuse considered partial abortion? The church fights these partial these lives with every financial fiber it has.
I've only recently started blogging and have found you blog to be a bit ridiculous. As far as the Pro-choice issue is concerned.

As far as I am concerned, the church should have no say in political views or in other extremely personal choices I make for my life.
Some of the comments you've received here, agreeing with your point but sticking up for the church, are highly delusional. "Relaxed" Catholics? It sounds as oxymoronic as "liberation theology" - isn't great how when a man of the cloth tries to take a stand and defend his religions dogmatic tenets he comes off looking ridiculous. Yes, we should all take half-servings of the kool aid and be moderate Christians.
I am not too sure, but I think Obama would be the last one to believe in God"s concerns. Then again, I could be wrong.

But the hypocrisy is hip deep.

  2. Obama planning billion-dollar 'bailout' for abortion industry
A pro-life group in Washington has launched a campaign to oppose what it calls president-elect Barack Obama's planned $1.5 billion "bailout" of the abortion industry.

Last week, the Obama-Biden Transition Project posted a report on its website that calls for dramatic policy reversals on abortion, including $1 billion in taxpayer money for international abortion groups like Planned Parenthood. The report, titled "Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New Administration," also calls for a 133-percent increase in funding for the Title X program, which funds Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, is hoping a Republican-led effort in the Senate will block Obama's plan to substantially increase taxpayer funding of the abortion industry.

"This billion-dollar bailout of the abortion industry comes at a time, number one, when the economy is suffering dramatically with true need. And number two, it communicates an incredible depth of arrogance, especially when you consider that the vast majority of Americans -- men and women, no matter who you talk to -- they don't believe that people who don't believe in abortion should be funding it," she contends. "Most Americans don't believe that we should be funding abortions, especially in a time of economic crisis."

Happy now ALL you stay at home conservatives?

  3. Geez, like it can't get any more depressing. A woman the other day said to me "what do you think of Kirsten Powers? She's so young to be giving impressions" but she's a real big Obama fan and last she wrote about Obama and abortion, pre-the-election she almost made him out to be pro-life! The Obama Fan Club always goes with the line that Obama of late has been pissing off the lefty-liberal crowd and maybe that's true but how come it never seems to apply to abortion? Never understood the rationale that PP should receive even one dime of taxpayer funding anyway and if abortionists are the true humanitarians they make themselves out to be they'd provide them to poor women gratis. As for the Freedom of Choice Act the msm act like it doesn't even exist.

  4. Collins, I'm not even sure what American Catholics are anymore all I know is that 54% of them went for Obama. Many of them are personally against abortion but are Democrats anyway because of things like the labor issue, I worked with one a couple of years ago. It is hard to see how Obama is reaching out to pro-lifers after what Frank has said, I don't even know how this idea even came about in the first place unless Kirsten Powers had a dream about it once. He'll probably go down as the most pro-abortion president in US history extending Clinton's "safe legal and (no longer) rare" formula with "fully paid for by the hardworking American taxpayer."

  5. I think it is very cool that you cook, kinda sexy even.

As for Communion, if you think about it how can we ever think ourselves worthy of the gift of Communion? We are humans and we are sinners. That's why we precede Communion with the words "Lord, I am not worthy to receive You, but only say the word and I shall be healed." His love and forgiveness are how we can be considered worthy.

  7. Here are MY thoughts for a cold winters night.
We are right in the thick of holiday-season . People are celebrating all over the place, and as pro-choice Americans, we know we have much to celebrate this holiday season. The countdown to a pro-choice administration is only days away.

The Blog for Choice day was a huge success - hundreds of pro-choice bloggers posted their thoughts on the importance of reproductive rights (according to the official Blog for Choice site, about 5000 bloggers signed up on the official site, with more bloggers joining in every day.
Remember, not everyone’s going to agree with you, but you’re free to think for yourself.

  9. What is it with you people?
You address us as if we were from out of space!
Abortion is a topic on which almost everyone has an opinion. The fact that I choose to write about this topic should not surprise you or anyone else.
We have drifted far enough right to be wrong! Religious conservatism has seized enough power and we pro choicers must be given the right to our own views.
    Enough is enough.
You Religious bloggers do not run America.

  10. You know you people are so into abortion that I think if a birth control method ever came up that was 120% effective and foolproof you'd pine for the good old days, the actual inconvenience of making an appointment. I was wondering though at what point are there too many abortions? You'd think after 40 million or so we'd take stock like WOW that's a rather large number what's up with that? we're like a cultural embarassment, the practice has lost its poetic gravitas by being so common, everybody's agonizing decision has become a drive-thru.

  11. "Enough is enough. You Religious bloggers do not run America."

I'm a damn chicken spitter among other things, I don't even run my own department yet and you have me ruling America. Was this in a nightmare you had?

  12. You see people, this is what Religious conservatism has come to. Raving maniacs, who can not even discuss the issues. But rather just put down the opposing views.

  13. Opposing views that are not based on pure reason that is. If I rave against anything it's bad thinking not just abortion per se although that happens to be the perfect vehicle for such poor thinking. It's interesting that the choicers are so obsessed with the topic of religion, in fact they have a bug up their ass about it when I've hardly mentioned it at all in my bloggings about abortion. The choice to do what exactly? to go to McDonald's or Burger King? Coke or Mountain Dew? OR to take a prenatal human life? always always finish the sentence please.
