The verdict on Glenn Beck

Many even some of those on the Right call him crazy but later on today I'm picking up his book especially for my Mom. What others call crazy I see as daring commentary, daring commentary is by definition new and fresh (simply for the fact that most others are afraid to say the same things) and so anything that is daring, new and fresh cannot be boring and Z-man considers boredom to be the bane of existence. So those are my reasons for forking over some dough for Arguing With Idiots and has nothing whatsoever to do with having to agree with every jot and tittle of what the man says. Now some are bemoaning what they call the lack of moderate voices on the Right these days but I say if you can make a cogent argument backed up by facts and actual quotes then what's the problem? Re all those radical leftists, commie czars popping up in the Obama Administration at a charitable minumum it shows a woeful lack of vetting and for that reason alone pointing this out amounts to a vast public service. Out-Of-The-Box thinking, that's me and if you can't say or even think certain things then that amounts to a kind of intellectual straitjacket. For me the vast majority of conspiracy theories are just plain wrong but geez over the course of the centuries one or two have to be right but that's a subject for another blog. Free speech is free speech and we live in an age when anything and everything is out there. It's all good.

  1. A couple observations about Glenn Beck. A week back, or so, I caught his emotional recitation of verse
5 of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, and I understand he is an admirer of Thomas Payne. If we are a bit familiar with history,
we wonder at the tip of this iceberg..for Julia Ward Howe, who penned 'In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea' was a progressive, a feminist and a pacifist. Payne left the US
and was able to only return in old age at the invitation of Jefferson. So reviled was he for his anti-Christian writings, only 6 people showed up at his funeral. He also invented the minimum wage. It isn't Beck, it is all of us, choosing which juicy tidbits to quote, without bothering to explore in depth the broad tapestry of our history.
    ..just sayin....

  2. You mean you have to agree with everything a person says in order to quote them? Ooops, I'd better take down that quote on my website that Z-man said, since there are a few things I disagree with my good friend on.

  3. Anyway, BB, you are one of those who are trying to smear Beck because he tells the truth and you cannot refute his words, and to tell you the truth I think that attitude sucks.

  4. Gosh, Beth, what part of "Free speech is free speech and we live in an age when anything and everything is out there. It's all good" don't you understand?

  5. For me it's quite simple, Beck is exciting radio. Now my brother bloggers here are gonna hate me for this but I felt the same way when Rosie O'Donnell was on The View and brought up things like 9/11. Couldn't disagree more with her and Charlie Sheen but from the sheer standpoint of something interesting to talk about the show hasn't been the same without her (not that I watch it just sayin'). So my starting point here is not necessarily MY politics but is the guy or gal interesting, even exciting to listen to? Beck fills that bill nicely thank you.

  6. Beth BB got me once or twice on the quote thing. Yeah 2X, the first time I quoted Disraeli and then when I started to get hooked on Ayn Rand, seemed she had a bug up her ass about pro-lifers. Actually I like the info but I agree with you Beth, I just like to use quotes is all and re bin Laden you and I will just have to agree to disagree. For me conservatism can't be about indifference to whether or not bin Laden eventually faces justice, for me it's a given.

  7. BB, you are either brainless, or clueless.

And judging from the fact that you are a liberal, I rest my case.

  9. See now Rude and Arrogant Ass was just showing what it is like to be personally attacked for your views rather than taking your actual points and addressing them, BB, it DOES stink, doesn't it?? Can you imagine how Beck feels??

  11. I love reading the lefty blog that are blasting Glenn Beck these days.. Only because they make me laugh so hard.

It's time for these people grow up . Glenn Beck is one of the highest rated shows on cable, all of his books are best sellers, and he packs auditoriums. He isn't going anywhere. If you don't like him, don't watch him.

I've been a listener for years, and have watched his tv shows on occasion. He was only Public Enemy #1 for leftist partisans when he moved to Fox, but for years none of you even knew who he was until he exposed Van Jones for what he really is.

Does anyone remember the vile names and pictures directed at G.W. Bush by leading Democrats, virulent left-wing groups and internet sites, and much of the mainstream media for the last (8) years? Well I guess what goes around comes around. Suck it up, if you hate him so much as you seem to, don’t listen to him.

  12. IF Beck is the leader of the lunatic fringe then that fringe consists of millions and millions of people, that's a hell of a fringe.

  13. If we ever get our country back, Glenn Beck will be a hero in the same way our Founders and MLK were.

  14. Glenn Beck is like a founding father himself caught in a timewarp and transferred to the here and now. Conservative guy at work yesterday said he listens to Beck and bought his book Common Sense but he added he's extreme. Well soapie did a nice job once explaining just what this term means and so I said to my co-worker but that's what makes his show so interesting, extreme is his schtick. I used as an example when Beck said the other day he has two Deep Throat sources that have poppped up in the last couple of days and he literally meets them in parking lots. He loves to dramatize and that's why I listen, he ain't Hannity or Mark Levin.
