Will the oil spill become President Obama's Katrina?

& it really doesn't matter if it's fair or not, just that it happened on his watch and the buck has to stop with someone. One thing it shows if we need more proof is government is inefficient, even downright incompetent at solving major problems. Turns out 200,000 gallons of oil gushing out into the Gulf of Mexico every day may have been a conservative estimate and there's talk this may be worse than the Exxon Valdez. Dead sea turtles have already been washing up on shore, I got a problem with that. Long story short do you really want them in charge of your health-care too?

  1. And why is the government responsible for BP's equipment fuckup, pray tell?

How are you going to blame the President for a major oil company's oil spill?

This must be some kind of parabolic logic.

Unless, of course, you mean that the government should have stepped in and banned offshore drilling ages ago, in which case you'd be perfectly correct.

  2. Come on, Z-man, Democrats are never responsible for anything, shame on you for suggesting such a thing!

  3. (btw, it wasn't about the cause but the response to the event, Saty)

  4. My time's almost up Saty but to your point real quick. It's like with a company, they often shake things up by firing bosses. Here in NYC Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is moving top brass out because the crime rate's going up. Nobody said it's fair but it's The Way It Is. Something happens on your watch, the buck has to stop somewhere.

  5. Since forensics haven't been concluded, how do you know it was the BP equipment that failed? I read somewhere that it could have been a North Korean submarine that blew up the oil rig. If that turns out to be true, then this won't be Obama's Katrina, it will be his 9-11!

  6. No matter how often I write people read what they want into it but anyway my whole point is the government response to the crisis. Just as with Katrina it sucks so why would you trust them with your health-care? Obama is the head of government right now you could say, so why as Geeeez points out did he visit Louisiana a week and a half later? to see a dead sea turtle?

  10. & I'M the one who gets accused of not hearing what other people are saying! It ain't BP's equipment f'up pray tell it's the government's response to it. Same deal with Bush, he didn't whip the winds into Hurricane Katrina it was the FEMA response to the crisis that sucked.
