Is a Sebelius book in the works?

She's now being kinda more blunt and candid on the talk show circuit about the whole health care debacle. Yeah yeah I know she voluntarily resigned but in my book the president still threw her under the bus. Makes ya wonder why Jay Carney is still sticking it through when it would probably be better for the both of them to work on the same book and rake in the dough. Smaller networks of doctors and higher premiums, the federal government deciding what treatments you get - what's not to like? They say in particular cancer patients are gonna be screwed bigtime under ObamaCare. I don't think though the Sebelius resignation is gonna swing the midterms in a more positive direction for the Democrats if that's the strategy here, I mean it's not like she's the Frankenstein who created the thing in the first place.

  1. Sebelius is a little different; she was twice elected to governor of Kansas, a red
state. Each time she ran, a leading Republican turned democrat and became her running mate. She is a pro-choice Catholic. She eliminated Kansas' $billion debt
left from the GOP in one term. Regarding the ACA, she was instrumental in getting
it going, and bore ultimate responsibility for the sign up fiasco. We can be sure that
Huckabee would have done better, right?

  2. It kinda reminds me of Bridgegate, everyone BUT the head honcho must bear ultimate responsibility.

    1. RancherBundy reminds me of that old cowboy song-
'I'm an old cowpie...on the trail I lie'

  4. I really, really, really don't think the whole Obamacare thing is as bad as you like to make it sound. Please understand that insurance companies are benefiting epically from the whole thing; this is not a 'government takeover' in any way, shape, or form. Networks are enormous and getting bigger every day and really? Every single horror story about Obamacare that the Right has put out has been debunked. Seriously. Every single one. And now that you've got 7+ million signed up through the networks and the exchanges and Medicare/aid expansions, I would really like to see how Ted Cruz and the rest of his asinine jackwagon conservative friends will explain to those 7+ million people that they're going to repeal their healthcare.

It's getting more blatant every day. In Oklahoma the governor has passed a law not allowing minimum wage increases or paid sick leave. Why do people put up with this kind of beatdown?

    1. I just read a good analysis yesterday about the new figures. Take your 7 million figure, first off many haven't even paid their first premiums yet so technically they're not covered but many of these folks HAD TO find insurance on the exchanges for the simple reason they HAD health insurance and got that nice cancellation letter in the mail. Put in this light that hardly puts a dent in the number of our nation's uninsured. Also many exchanges do not cover specialty cancer centers just general and local hospitals so don't expect to try the latest innovative cancer treatment. Just sayin'.

    2. As of today it went over 8 million. Plus-
3 million young adults who were able to stay on their parents’ plan.
3 million more people enrolled in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
5 million people on ACA plans bought outside the Marketplace. Access to top end niche cancer centers has been limited by private insurance,
depending on the policy all along and is available under the
ACA if you purchase top end insurance; if those institutions lose business, they will have to lower their rates and become more available.

    3. What's the deductible for the silver plan? something like $3,000 right? $5,000 for the gold. AMA, long a supporter of the ACA is now officially worried about premiums going up and word on the street is Hillary may not run after all mainly due to the baggage of the Obama years.

  5. Why does people having healthcare upset people? Do they not realize that the rest of the world thinks we are barbaric for letting any of our folks go without healthcare?

    1. You got your gov't-run health-care up there in Canada, there's rationing and longer waits for important medical tests and interventions. I hear Vermont is the first state that's gonna try single-payer only problem is that's gonna eat up their state budget. Of the new 8 million+ now enrolled in ObamaCare somewhat less than 2 million fell into the category of they didn't have insurance before which is exactly the group of people that the ACA was expressly designed to help. As for the rest...well we know the story.

  6. BTW my sitemeter says I get a mere 9 hits a day on average. BB didn't die did he?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Have you had your site meter calibrated? We would also note that perhaps a large
percentage of hits come from NSA: if you have a spook filter that 9 might be the square root of the 81 hits that come from a basement in the Ukraine. BTW, today
on google, there is a birthday cake that if I press a candle says happy birthday to me,
alond with a sort of face book thing for me to fill out. Which, even though I am not looking for a job and might be worried about BG checks, I'm not going to. Gonna be
sort of blank, like most of the rest of the over 70 crowd, ya know? I think google pops people up by their birthdate and targets them and the only reason I applied
was that they bought blogger and I had to have a google acct to even access blogs.
(they are more obnoxious than NSA, IMO.)

  8. Have I had my sitemeter calibrated? I just barely got used to my tablet and smartphone, do I use rabbit ears? Google, everytime someone buys a smartphone or tablet with an Android OS they have to open up a gmail account if they don't already have one in order to unlock the device and make full use of its functionality so I can imagine millions of folks who have gmail accounts for the sole reason they bought an Android-powered phone or tablet. Good for google, GRRRRREAT for the NSA as Tony the Tiger would say.

  9. Did ya ever investigate or look over your Web History? It's a little unsettling, maybe even a little creepy because practically EVERYTHING you search for is right up there in good ole Black 'n' White, a living record. Oh sure you can change your settings or delete the stuff later on but in your gut you know it's still there somewhere in a cloud maybe. I mean maybe one day simply on a lark you google "rectal prolapse" or "anal hernia" 'cause you heard the term somewhere and you were curious so you're showing your mother or great aunt about your wonderful new smartphone and you're showing the folks how we roll now but then all this STUFF starts coming up so you gotta say oh that's just predictive text only it's not. Everything I ever looked up online at the library over the years is THERE in some secret underground NSA bunker compound maybe not being looked at right now but it's there. Gives ya the willies!

    1. I'm thinking those web histories are not in the NSA basement, but in one of those newfangled electronic clouds. We can hope an electronic tornado or
convenient attack of sunspots scrambles the data. Z-man stuff would be
intermingled with Kardashian stuff, Son of Sam stuff and Bloomberg's stuff.

  11. Yesterday I downloaded the Web MD mobile app to my tablet and smartphone. It's not a substitute for seeing an actual medical professional and they say that but I think I'll be using this app quite a bit. Apparently first aid for venomous snakebites has changed from back in the day. It's a no-no now to cut the wound with a sterilized razor, suck the poison out and apply a tourniquet. It's Call 911 - ok but the old-fashioned advice was predicated on the scenario that may not always be feasible at the moment. I like the old way better, something more manly about it.

    2. Had a visit from an old employee the other day. Considerably younger than me, he shuffles and stumbles along with a cane. Multlple sclerosis
plaquing up his myelin along the spine and brain. Insurance? Yes, it
pays $6000 a month for his medication. The deal, as I understand it, is
if we are lucky and healthy, we pay in and don't take out...and the reverse is true. One cannot help but wonder though, why some of these critical
      drugs are so incredibly expensive

  13. I knew it, I just KNEW it. From the Ted Bundy crime files-
    A New Ted Bundy:

Bundy worked on the re-election campaign of Washington's Republican Governor Dan Evans. Evans was elected and he appointed Bundy to the Seattle Crime Prevention Advisory Committee. Bundy's political future seemed secure, when in 1973 he became assistant to Ross Davis, chairman of the Washington State Republican Party. It was a good time in Bundy's life. He had a girlfriend, his old girlfriend was once again in love with him, and his footing in the political arena was strong."
