My take on the Trump victory

Kamala Harris should never have been the Democratic candidate.  Exit polling showed most voters had concerns about the cost of living and the economy.  The incumbency or in this case part of the incumbency doesn't normally win with that kind of data.  The Democrats should have gone with someone outside the WH and surprised there was no real discussion of this apparently between the time Biden dropped out of thr race and the start of the DNC.  They may have still lost with another candidate but their chances would have been at least slightly better imo.

There will be the liberal wailing and gnashing of teeth over the next four years.  Also Trump will be dealing with a hostile media on a daily basis led by the New York Times.  As my friend said let the man do his job and finish the work he started.  IF he had won the last time against Biden he'd be nearing the end of his second term right now and liberals and the Left could finally get on with their lives or at least be free of the TDS episodes and suffering.  Instead this is what you got deal with it.  You're out of tune with the American people.

  1. You prognosticated correctly. With control of the white house, both
legislatures and SCOTUS, the old guy can do pretty much anything he wants. Which is what?

  2. Yes but I don't think it's what Whoopie Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey have in mind.

  4. Any thoughts about the Trump cabinet? Musk, RFKjr, the Hulk etc-

  5. Musk I don't really have an issue with. He'll be running some kind of government waste or efficiency commission. RFK Jr. I really don't care if they take fluoride out of the water but toothpaste is another matter. Thomas Sowell the black conservative columnist could definitely be room for him. Hulk - cultural affairs. Steve Bannon out of the prison in Danbury.

    1. You don't find this stressful at times these online fights? I'm thinking it can run you down physically and complaining about Trump for the next four years probably ain't good for anyone's health. In moderation but approaching forums or blogs with a gladiatorial spirit generally is non-productive even if cathartic.

    2. Sure, we all have lives to live. Blogging is interesting to me, not the political stuff per se. Biden was excoriated by some blogs for his 4 years, Trump may be as well. Ugly side of the internet. You got big retirement plans? Maybe Z-Man Chef consulting or Yonkers Central Feral Cat Training and Exchange Center. Or like me, sit around and smoke your pipe and wait for Christian Brothers sales.

    3. The last thing you mentioned probably. Worked with a woman once and asked her if she has any hobbies. She said drinking.

  8. Not getting the Peanut the Squirrel thing. Rodents generally don't carry rabies which is not to say it's not possible to my knowledge but it's not common. The small squirrel apparently bit a NYS investigator probably out of self-defense if I have the story right and they took the man's pet squirrel away and euthanized it. Gov. Hochul defended this action but says if you voted for Trump you're anti-American. All I can think of was Bob Ross used to have pet squirrels he sometimes showed on his painting show. It's not like the guy was keeping a cougar or a wolverine.

  9. I feed the squirrels all winter long. They wait on the kitchen deck. They don't bite me and I don't bit them. Although today I'm foaming at the mouth. Capciche? We call our wildlife feeding station "JoAnn's Nuthouse' Next month the Oregon Juncos come in from Canada and we put out birdfeed as well. Assistants to Mom Nature.

  10. Try that in Gov. Kathy Hochul's New York State. She's a bit squirrelly herself.

  11. Well, the whole New England area is non-Trumpian. Maybe he well sell you to Canada? (Or Musk- he's richer than Canada)

  12. Never figured out the George Soros thing - RW blogs claim he outspends them on politics. His net worth is $7.2 billion. But Elon Musk is at $285 billion, Jeff Bezos at $224 billion, Koch Bros $120 billion and John Menard $13 billion. Double standard? BTW trivia-wise, I had Menard's father for calculus in college. A farmer, used to have straw in his shoes. Started a pole barn outfit, later became a chain of hardware stores, Son, who went to same college inherited and expanded. Doubt any of these guys worry about grocery prices.

  13. So George Soros did spend a ton on the Democrats but Elon threw his money towards Trump so for me they cancel each other out.

  17. That was on the news last night. Record highs after the Trump victory. Feds cut the rate a little bit too. He's a businessman. I think they trust him more than what's her name?

    1. About a week's worth. Got another 4 years. 'they' probably trust the My Pillow guy too - he's a businessman. My take (we remember Herbert Hoover) is that businessmen should run businesses. US Gov't is not a business - it is not there to make money off you. My experience with businessmen is I don't trust them. Say you lost money last quarter - the first thing you do is lay people off, and keep your brother in law in the ivory tower. Then you try to get rid of the union. Then you go and lie to your customers...Harvard Business School.

    2. Beg pardon the US Gov't makes money off of us all the time. The federal income tax. State governments state taxes. Sales taxes. City of Yonkers property tax. My last installment of about $1,300 due in early January. Westchester County tax. Sidewalk enforcement. EVERYBODY'S making money off of us. You libertarian all of a sudden?

There's always rubber gloves, Gus, Nurse Nancy, the big statue of Diddy (under erection) in Chagrin Falls, OH - or Brando, Traffic lights cameras in Yonkers, immunology pros/cons, pulled chicken (is it on a leash?), how to start a forest fire with a model rocket, Jackson What's his name, PItbulls & Parolees, Eastern Coyotes, kidney stones Judge Judy and African vs Indian elephants. 20. Remember Erma Bombeck? "If life is a bowl of cherries, how come I'm always in the pits?" Rene Descartes, known for math and philosophy stated "I think, therefore I am", which makes me wonder about angleworms. They don't think, but they am. Ya know? Maybe improve that, "I see me in the mirror, therefore I am" which makes me think about cats - "I see a threatening cat in the mirror, therefor I shall attack". What is philosophy good for anyway?

  25. Trump is 3 years younger than old Biden. Any thought about VP Vance having to step up at some point?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I definitely think that could happen at some point. We already batted this around a little. Of course Trump is always a target for being shot at. He could develop dementia etc. Part of the way I voted has to do with it'd be better with Vance as president than Harris or even Walz if something happened to Harris. One step away from the presidency has to enter into the way you vote.

  27. They always said the VP choice made no difference in the vote. Personally, I think Sarah Palin did in John McCain. She quit being governor of Alaska halfway through and has lost every contest she has been in since. ...and that is in Alaska. But, yeah, Vance is no dummy. A little inexperienced, but heck, look at what people vote for any more. Promises. Good luck
