The existential meltdown continues

I have actually read in some online forums about people who have broken down emotionally and mentally over the Trump victory and have to be counseled.  I kid you not.  Now let's remember Trump also won the popular vote and his victory was big enough you could call it a mandate.  The legacy media is pretty much dead at this point as they're not as influential as they thought they'd be.  People are gravitating more towards alternative independent media like Joe Rogan and not even giving a passing thought to what the New York Times has to say these days.  Ole Gray Lady hubris.

Whither this blog?  Start any post even mildly favorable to Trump and there's threadshitting.   I don't plan on this place becoming a dumping ground or landfill for Trump hatred over the next four years.  Criticism yes but there's a fine line between that and unhinged, valid takes and deranged rhetoric.  I'm also seeing a lack of critical thinking skills like Trump wants every Latino person who voted for him to leave the country.  That's just low-effort shitposting.  Another one people who haven't gone to college don't know how to vote that's just plain intellectual snobbery.  You know some calculus and some Nietzsche that makes you special?  Saw a bumper sticker once that said "Without Truckers America Stops."

Word of advice to the Democrats:  Next time leave Taylor Swift out of it.

  2. Another one: "Wife and dog missing. Reward for dog."

  3. I told this one to Nurse Nancy. She didn't laugh. She had a bad marriage once.

  4. Dour woman. Maybe she would like "I think, therefore I'm single?

  5. The mass formation psychosis surrounding Trump. If I may play medical detective I wonder where it came from how it started. People talking about it like it's not the least bit irrational. Never seen anything like this in my lifetime.

  6. Dunno, Mrs. was a psychology major. She has a visceral hatred of the gentleman. You're right. Maybe we all are. My BP this morning was
103/62 with a pulse of 65. Barely alive?

  7. A few assholes climbing a wall. Some dick in a Viking helmet. Police practically letting people in. The rioters all walking properly through the velvet ropes. Trump telling people beforehand to act peacefully and Pelosi refusing to send in the National Guard as per Trump's request (audio available). I remember it well.

  8. The futuristic Trump as Hitler scenario pushed by Harris at the end. What could have caused so many people to become so detached from reality? Masses of people. What social, psychological medical reason can you give? Do you have any ideas? Will go down as a classic in sociological textbooks in the years to come.

  9. History books too. Guaranteed. Unique. Don't know about Harris though.

  10. But is there some kind of common denominator here? Mass formation psychosis doesn't just happen overnight. The fantastical scenario of Trump as dictator for life in the USA where did this come from? Social conditioning? Deep State? Propaganda? Brain damage? A mind-altering something or other? It's like Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

  11. They saw what he did when he lost, is my guess. Mass psychosis, why would anyone purchase a $3 Bible printed in Japan for $95? You have explained to your own satisfaction how people reacted to the election.
    OK

  12. But the slide into mass mental illness what caused it? Where did it originate? Is there brain damage involved? What is the common denominator? Is science investigating this yet? It's not normal.

  13. Mental illness? Because many people don't like Trump? Go read Geeez the last 4 years - they complained endlessly about Biden. You think they are mentally ill? I don't. Just normal reaction to disappointment - not OK let's all get together and join in Kumbya. Been busy today, sending out our weekly newsletter 'the Follies' to friends and family around the states and world. No politics, just life for an old couple in a small town. Helped the wife put up some of her 6000 outdoor Christmas lights, made an appointment for the cat check up and watch my favority basketball team Gonzaga U from up in Spokane.
    Were you at work today?

  14. Yes mental illness. Psychosis. Detachment from reality. NOBODY in the past ever said anything like Clinton Obama or Biden is going to be a Hitler for life and cancel all future elections. That's another level. You're trying to normalize abnormality.

  15. Reading comprehension issues?

  16. Clearly all should be in padded cells, poor things.

  17. Had to look that up. Would "Reading comprehension issues" be that, or something else? Didn't mean to gaslight, sorry - just giving opinion.

  18. If you normalize calling just elected presidents Hitlers then it becomes normal. If Kamala had won the election and we called her a Hitler who wants to put her political enemies in camps you'd have every right to call us on it and suggest therapy.

  19. He did call her a fascist as well as a communist, which are completely antithetical. It's a moot point. She lost badly. Stock market way up,
I'm giving him good grades - take me off the psychotic list, I gotta get my pipe lit.

  20. He did call her a Marxist and her father a Marxist during their one and only debate. That one I clearly recall. There seems to be an allowance here at work though because he says stupid or outrageous things people are within their rights to call him a Hitler. A dick is not a dictator. Gotta get my pipe tin open. Short flathead should work.

  21. Here's where we get into levels of professional anxiety veering off into what I'm talking about. Presidential historian Michael Beschloss. Writes books. Seen him many times on PBS. No gripe against the guy just doing his job. He said just prior to Trump's victory if elected Trump would outlaw historians. That's not Trump's style though. If Beschloss writes a new Trump book negative to Trump Trump will definitely call him a piece of shit and that's it. No book burning. Betcha during the next four years you can still read a Woodward book. Paranoia/anxiety. Get a grip!

  22. Jimmy Dore makes me laugh. On his podcast he said they say Trump wants generals like Hitler had. Then he goes yeah Hitler's generals were always trying to kill him.

  23. I guess podcasts are OK. Not interested. I like stuff like the Z-Man of India - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzO15FbbNWI
