Isn't this what free speech is all about?

There is a crotchety middle-aged man in town whom the other conservatives seem to shun, some even call him a closet lib. He can be found most nights at the Tavern & Grille at the end of town holding court, getting in touch with the common pulse. Last night you walked in and heard him put down Betty Ford for breaking down at Gerry's memorial service. At first you are shocked by the outrageousness of his words but then you sense an original thought, a rare commodity these days. Then you realize you've always had these unformed thoughts rattling around in your mental attic somewhere but you were never fully aware of it. You've often thought yourself why do religious folk who believe in God and an afterlife get so bent out of shape when a loved one dies even when they don't die tragically but in a normal and expected fashion, life having run its course. You would never say this and anyway people mourn in their own way but now you kinda like the guy regardless and could probably have a decent conversation with the man about the 20 year old guy who was arrested the other day in a Staten Island McDonald's for calling a clerk a faggot for not giving him a McFlurry, whatever happened to free speech, what are we some police state or something? Many in the bar like the man and enjoy his company but the other, more respectable denizens of RightTown like O'Reilly hate the guy 'cos he doesn't get with the program. He makes fun of both Left and Right and you're not supposed to do this, pick a side, any side buddy and stick with it. He even disparagingly called Sean and Rush border collies in his new book for barking and yapping at any conservative who dares stray too far off the plantation. The chutzpah, the audacity, the nerve...

the balls.

His name is Michael Savage. People who masturbate your mind

  1. Well now you're getting quite an interesting collection of characters in your little Right Town. But I thought you didn't like the dissent among conservatives, that you liked the attitudes the libs have of sticking together through thick and thin.

I personally like that the conservatives tend to be more open minded (in my opinion).

How is 2007 going for you so far, z-man?

  2. The dissent is not by choice. Even before Bush sent troops to Iraq most conservatives were united in favor, IMHO there was no real debate. The time for real debate and discussion was then and once a conclusion could have been reached, either for or against the war, then that would have been the time to stick together like the liberals, but you had neocons like Sean and the rest coopting and shouting down any dissent from the getgo. Yes, have your debates and your dissents but have them in private and early and then reach a consensus and then proclaim it to the world. The libs were so successful in killing Terri Schiavo because they were so united whereas conservatives were carping in public about things like did Jeb have the power to take her into custody, valuable time lost in my opinion. I hope this clarifies what you see as a contradiction in my previous statements. Michael Savage has no choice but to dissent at times.

  3. Well sure, there is a time and a place and we need to pick our battles. Everyone has the right to dissent, that is what makes this country so great. If Sean wants to be a cheerleader for President Bush, he has every right to do so. In the end, I hope all people look at the facts themselves to decide if the President was right or wrong. But you know the saying, united we stand, divied we fall. At some point we have got to come together, put aside politics and just do what is right.

  4. In contrast to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Larua Ingram , Monica Crowley and even that light wright Mark levin , Savage mixes conservative diatribe and blunt observations with acerbic humor and a gift of gab. It has propelled him to the top of radio talk-show ratings and he well deserves it.
He is not afraid to call a spde a spade. Unlike some of the other loud mouths on WABC he calls it as he sees it. He is not a sheep.
And just because some of the others are conservative it does not make them right.

  5. At the outset of his TV program, Michael Savage declared that he wouldn't be a "pussy" like Dr. Laura, whose own broadcast program was quickly killed...
Hanniy, Levin and even Rush are all sheep, Michael tells it like it is.

  6. I really am not familiar with Mr. Savage, but I just read Bill O'Reilly's book and he isn't particualarly in favor of Savage's tactics. I prefer people who take the high road myself.

  7. Beth, Bill O'Reilly has been know to be VER 2 faced himself. I wouldn't put to much in what he says or in what he thinks.

  8. Cisco Kid - the link you provided also dissed Michael Savage!

To quote the blog you linked:

"O'Reilly isn't alone. So many of these hard-talking radio hosts cave the minute they meet a celebrity from the other side.

Michael Savage, who changed his last name from Weiner, to appear tough, cooed when he had Willie Brown on his show. It was nauseating."

    I say:

So what? Lots of Celebs change their names all the time, in fact Most Do!
As for having Willie Brown on his show, I say so what again. Thjats what makes good radio.
Hey, look at the “Scum” Hannity has on His show.
Charlie Rangel and the scum of the Liberal party.
And O'Reilly who you quoted and who’s book you read has the Dixie Chicks and scum like them on all the time. Why not get nauseated over him?

And why mention that he changed his last name from Weiner?

  10. I don't care that Savage changed his last name, if you notice I was simply quoting from the blog you listed to show that the blogger was nauseated by Savage as well as O'Reilly. As far as I am concerned, either man can put whomever they wish on their programs.

  11. Did you know that Hannity has Cindy Sheehan on his NEW show tonight?

  12. Why does it bother you if Hannity has Sheehan on his show tonight? I for one think civilized debate between opposing views is beneficial, but doing so with facts and in a dignified manner can expose the lunacy of the left and the anti-Bush type who just fight with rhetoric.

  13. It don't it's just that you said that when Willie Brown on Bill O'R's show show. It was nauseating

  14. I ca see that you folks ar mark Levin fans. Those people are trained by levin to dislike savage.. Levin is Ok, but,
I wish Levin would lose that "Savage" shtick he does. He's a really smart guy, and although I don't agree with him too often, I like to listen to him when he gets serious. Too bad that doesn't happen very often. Most of the time he resorts to name calling of the worst kind. I suppose that appeals to his New York demographic...Tel lavin Fans and the hannity Fans don't like the Savage show and vica versa.
But i feel that savage makes some points that the others are to in step to admit..
You know Bush is not always right!

  15. Kindly delete my above posting, I guess it’s a bit early in the morning and it’s hard for me to see the key-board in the dawn of light.

I can see that you folks are Mark Levin fans. Those people ( Mark Levin fans) are trained by Levin to dislike Savage.. Levin is Ok, but, he has his faults as well.

But I feel that Savage makes some points that the others are to in step to admit..Savage is not too much in love with either side of the aisle, so he can tell it as he sees it.
You know Bush is not always right! Even I who is a Bush supporter can see that.
It’s not too smart to be a sheep or a Kool aide drinker, we have learned that many times before. So don’t be in lock step with either one of tem. And lets also remember that all of the above guys are getting paid lots of cash for doing what they do.

  16. I am not in New York so I don't listen to either Savage or Levin. I did catch Levin on Hannity's show last night and he didn't overly impress me. In O'Reilly's book, he indicated that Savage used annoying smear tactics, and I have no reason not to believe O'Reilly and I agree those tactics are annoying.

As you mentioned though they are getting paid big bucks, but I get the impression that some conservative talk show hosts are trying to be shock jock types when as I said I prefer the high road. When you are RIGHT you don't need to name call, just give the facts and that should be enough.
