The wisdom of celebrities

From today's Page Six Magazine, actress Eva Amurri (whom I never heard of btw) gives us this pearl of wisdom:

On her parents Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins:

"Both of my parents have been arrested. Not many people can say that."

  1. I don't know what the matter with my Mom and Dad is, so unhip, never been to jail, all that clean living just ain't healthy.

btw about Britney, it's an open secret now that she's been using drugs but which drugs is a salient point. Everybody's making her out to be bipolar and maybe she is but I say the combination of drugs and mental disorders makes you get this way to the point where they have to strap you to a gurney and you hit the cover of the New York Post and here's another thought, she hits the bar scene alot, maybe somebody laced her drink with some kind of mood-altering drug, ditto Amy Winehouse. What I don't get about Amy, such a talent, is why can't she just sing about rehab, why does she have to live it?

  2. We talked on the phone last night Beth and I know you try to avoid these stories, you said they're like car wrecks and you try not to look but I think you really have to take note of what Britney's become. If anything it's a good public-service commercial for just say no and so maybe there's some redeeming value in the story, I dunno, I just follow these things.

  3. That's okay that you follow these things, obviously many people do but I find it very sad. Sure it should be a warning for people of what NOT to do, but somehow it doesn't seem to work out that way.

I do hope she gets the help she needs, and anyone like her having the same troubles but who just aren't famous.

  4. Katie Couric recently did a 2-part news segent of young people now abusing perfectly legal prescription drugs and as if on cue we find in today's NY Post that Brit went on a 36-hour binge before her meltdown, 100 prescription drugs in all:

2 bottles of NyQuil, 20 diet pills including Clenbuterol, 18 herbal uppers, 18 Piriton antihistamine tablets, 12 Vicodins...

(wait, my hand is getting tired)

10 sleeping pills, up to 8 antacid tabs, 1 bottle of Pepto-Bismol, 10 Zantacs and 6 Ritalins! all washed down with the Purple Monster - Vodka, NyQuil and Red Bull.

Now I don't know about you but I take 1 Unisom tab over the prescribed dose and I'm in another zone the next morning at work.

  6. That's what I thought but maybe it was more spread out over time but anyway I think initial press reports of her meltdown missed the point, whenever somebody acts like this guardians or parents or whomever should make sure there is bloodwork done, sometimes it's not purely a psychiatric problem and while we're on the topic somebody needs to check out Amy's Winehouse and in a hurry.

  7. So now they hate Dr. Phil and Dr. Phil hates them, at least Lindsay Lohan seemed more dignified with her problem in retrospect. Madonna french-kissing Brit at the MTV Video Awards, turning point (Camille Paglia theory).
