Thought people mellowed with age

What's up with these liberal dinosaurs? always hating, never participating. Last time we checked Gloria Steinem embarassed herself on the NY Times Op-Ed page making the case that Bubba flashing Paula Jones was not sexual harassment but Clarence Thomas asking Anita Hill out more than once was, now she opines that McCain being a POW of the Vietcong for 5 1/2 years doesn't entitle him to the presidency (although methinks he's entitled to a free lapdance or two). Don't recall McCain running on this however, maybe I missed this as his platform, dunno but apparently everyone mellows with age except liberals, always fighting, always dividing the Universe into Good & Evil,

it's old.

  1. Actually I quite easily confuse Gloria Steinem with Jane Fonda for some reason on this one, I have to keep reminding myself that Gloria said it and not Barbarella since it could have easily flowed out of either of their mouths.

  2. Libs mellow when on pot of course, otherwise they are an angry lot.

  3. You know they say pot is supposed to mellow a person but the people I knew who were regular users it seemed to make them angry and moody, maybe it's like the alcohol thing after all, they use so much of it. Incidentally if the doc writes you a certified letter that you can use pot for your back pain can you take a 10 minute break at work and smoke pot in front of your boss?

  4. I didn't think doctors could do that.

  5. You never know, I mean is there a test case out there that the intrepid ACLU can champion? I guess it depends on the state.

  6. I mean, according to one branch of the ACLU you have "a reasonable expectation of privacy" if you're Larry Craiging it up in the men's room off the Interstate, you see there's the genteel liberalism most libs subscribe to and there's, well, the ACLU, real Bermuda Triangle stuff.

  7. Everyone's got their own personal agenda.

  8. Call it the Perv Lobby, they're the scariest though. The Pot Lobby, they're just not that into drinking that much. Saw that study over at yahoo about British researchers who say even moderate amounts of alcohol boost up your blood pressure. I believe that almost every study under the sun about anything the researchers have a bias or personal agenda, how could they not? they're human. So you have the Anti-Alcohol Lobby, I mean when people start attacking moderation, it's like the only choice they give you is to be an alcoholic or an abstainer...

  9. Then you get the opposite studies claiming wine is good for your heart,

  10. Yeah, I liked that wine study, and the one that said dark chocolate it good for you. Selective listening to studies.

  11. I mean yeah maybe all those Health Advocates are right in the long run that drinking is bad for you but realistically most people do something to help them relax or get by and so it seems to me the right balance or compromise to strike would be a Moderation Movement. Dunno if their overall goal is Prohibition again but anyway saw a friendly old retired gentleman at the liquor store the other day, lived a long life, maybe a hard one, maybe not, but in my view he's earned it, if he wants to share a glass or two with his wife of 30 years I have no problem or maybe he's a widower. That'd be funny if someday they come up with a study saying not drinking is bad for you, I mean I've come across some stressed out people like bosses who say they never drink and you're like well maybe you should at least a little, lol.

  12. ...& to throw some philosophy into the mix we're all mortal. Now I've been watching my health more lately and doing the right thing by changing my diet and exercising more but people have told me an occasional cheeseburger or handful of peanuts is not going to kill you. I now drive right past the hot dog wagon but who's to say once or twice a year I might stop. I think you can watch your health and enjoy Life too otherwise you wind up like some vegan and the ones I've come across they don't look the least bit healthy.

  13. Heck yeah, who wants to live a long life eating bark and leaves?

Moderation and balance, that's the way to go, imho.

  14. Even when doctors ask you personal questions like do you drink and/or smoke they accept your answer, it's like even they know people don't like lectures and as long as you practice moderation they move on to some other more pertinent questions. It seems like the real Utopians are in the Health Movement.

  15. One thing about hospitals that often gets overlooked, I think location is very important to patients without them even knowing it. Take a hospital overlooking a beautiful river, a rustic setting, trees, cliffs and boats. Now when you're in the hospital you have no desire to be there of course and you probably can't fully enjoy the pleasant surroundings but it does have an effect, it's important to one's mental health as a patient especially when many of them are going through quite stressful times. Urban hospitals on the other hand can't boast this advantage, I mean say you're a patient recovering and you look out your window and you see a crime in progress, sirens getting louder and louder...depressing.
