Personally I find her a little too bony

Meghan McCain, daughter of the Senator, in her blog on Ann Coulter:

"I find her offensive, radical, insulting and confusing all at the same time."

I normally would say something when somebody in the news criticizes a prominent conservative especially coming from outspoken liberal offspring but Coulter is a rather strong brew. I don't like it 140 proof either, Jack Bauer as politician, her scorched-earth policy of verbally obliterating the opposition, C-Block. I want to say something Meghan but I can't, it is what it is, you're entitled.

  1. Man I can't stand Coulter. And I'm not even a liberal!

  2. That makes two of us. I don't mind witty, I don't mind sarcastic, I'm even a big fan of them but go away already. I've even entertained the notion that maybe she's a liberal plant to make us look bad, that her and Bill Maher really did have sex and this was their pillow talk.

  3. I confess to being more or less liberal..and I cannot abide her for long. But, it is said by those close to her that she is in person warm, friendly and fun. What do you think..we take her out for a few beers?

  4. That's an interesting take, maybe it's all schtick. Maybe she'd even make a good boss, then I'll take her. Do tell BB, you have liberal tendencies, I never guessed!

  5. I just love it when she's portrayed as a conservative. Personally, having heard a couple of interviews with her, I've found her to be less of a conservative and much more of a Republican cheerleader. And, this is precisely why, when she tried to stand in opposition to McCain, she looked rather foolish.

She was once interviewed by Jason Lewis (Minnesota radio guy who's got his own national show now and has filled in for Rush as recent as last Thursday and Friday) and she was cheerleading all things GOP. So Jason takes her to task and starts asking what good it is to stand behind liberal Republicans and asks how that's different than simply voting for a Democrat. She pleaded her case and subsequently followed it up with a book titled: If Democrats had any brains they'd be Republicans. Naturally I had to ask: What kind of Republicans? Republicans like say hmm...maybe Snow, Spector, Collins, The Terminator out in Cali or Republicans of a much more principle nature? If she was truly a conservative, I think it's fair to say she'd have titled her book: If Democrats had any brains they'd be Conservatives. I've long since harbored a similar view of Hannity as well. Given his affinity for the likes of Lieberman, Dick Morris, and Gingrich (who's even gone soft on a number of issues namely the environment vis a' vis his commercial with Pelosi some months back) it too is quite telling.

That the two of them are so chummy is perfectly sensible.

  6. When I said maybe she's really a closet liberal I was actually being serious. God this is a little vague now but I remember reading a while back about some minister during the Clinton era who was portrayed in the press as "right-wing" because he made anti-gay comments and things of that nature, said fags deserve to die of AIDS etc. and it was later found out he gave money to the Clintons. My brother said one time Ken Starr and Bill Clinton were even spotted at the same party (strategy here: focus my investigation solely on playing Bill's skin flute and come across as a Puritanical flake but I'll get ya off). BB called this blog "eclectic with an oblique POV on life in general" so when I looked the word up one definition was "deviating from a straight line or course." & consider this, most conservatives being the sensitive type will apologize if they say something truly over the top (or being perceived this way) or even nowhere near the top (think Trent Lott/Strom Thurmond's birthday party) but Coulter wallows in it and has never apologized to my knowledge. I could've titled this blog "Things I Wonder About."

  9. But Ranter soapie just pointed out she's not that conservative. For example she'll blast abortion in her books but then support the RINO. Hannity does the same thing. I remember he had Bill Maher on once and this was when Ahnuld was running for Gov of CA and Maher said that when it comes to abortion Hannity doesn't care about the issue much and then he denied this. Rush has the guts to tell it like it is too but he's more mainstream than Coulter imo.

  11. Lest we forget Z, Hannity was all about Rudy Giulianni in that last cycle.

What's more, he blasted Ron Paul and pretty much chalked him up with Kucinich because he didn't toe the party line on Iraq.

Now, certainly one is entitled to their own misgivings about Ron Paul but to be perfectly blunt about it....

When it comes to fiscal/monetary policy, that dude is Dead On and really knows his shiznit. Were Hannity a conservative by definition, he'd have credited him on that issue if nothing else.

  12. I honestly didn't care all that much that Rudy is pro-choice but what bothered me more is that he is pro-Roe whereas you've often said yourself it should be a states' rights issue. Had Rudy adopted this strategy early on he could've sewn up the nomination maybe. Instead he said things like if Roe goes or stays he doesn't have a problem either way, I mean who thinks like this? It doesn't ring true.
