I don't recall......

During my 60+ years on this Earth I don't recall any other president who right after he won the general election we talked about it non-stop everyday right up until the day of his inauguration the following January.  That's almost a good solid 3 months of hype if you do the math and that's the way it's headed.  Normally since Jan. 20 is still aways away, we haven't even made it through Christmas yet you would think this would be a good time to discuss a garden-variety of other subjects no?  Also not getting the continued uproar over the Hunter Biden pardon.  Presidents have the power to pardon, many pardons are controversial but at a certain point it's time to move on.  I don't care if Jon Stewart and some MSNBC host are upset.  Also why is Whoopi Goldberg acting perpetually deranged?  She looks like some medieval gladiator in a movie with a pickaxe.  Put her in a movie with Jet LI.  She looks like she could scare a pitbull.

Everybody calm down.

  1. News cycle like a washing machine - stuck on spin dry. What's with the head of a healthcare company getting assassinated there in NY?

  2. Conspiracy theorists having a field day. United Healthcare CEO targeted and shot dead. Any updates?

  3. I heard some people are self-deporting. Is Homan human? Kash Patel gonna clean up the FBI. Hegseth might be replaced by DeSantis. Oz might have conflicts of interest. In other news......

  4. Mundane life goes on. Retired guy, a plumber, whose first love is cooking, called on the phone - "What type of peanuts does JoAnn use
in her peanut brittle?" Uh, usually she avoids the the shelled ones"
Mrs - "Gimme the phone, smart butt".

  5. I generally don't do my smoking indoors. First there's my mother and I'm also afraid of a flying ember hitting the curtain. Yonkers is like the windy city. Maybe because of its proximity to NY Harbor and the Hudson. Hard to smoke outdoors. Most days like a mini tornado or hurricane lately. Hard to light the pipe. Don't have a butane lighter. Some pipe sessions rather unpleasant. Now where did my garbage can lids go?

  6. Lot of fixations with the T nominations. But I'm scratching my silver head - where is Rudy G? Like maybe Ambassador to NYC - or even Yonkers. He needs a break, IMO.

  7. 60+ years? That makes you a wise sage. Now comes the calculation of retirement at 62, 65 or keep on cheffing to bug Nurse Nancy. I took the 62, three extra years of not running an explosives lab and initiating exp production, which was starting to cause
heavy use of gastrointestinal reflux bottles before bed. Less per year, but 3 extra years. I smoke my pipe in the basement - 5-8 a day and totally understand the dissadvantages of puffing in the wind - like pissing into the wind as the sailors used to say. Have you tried sitting in the car with the right window open, listening to Public Radio?

  8. Can I afford to retire at 62? I'm thinking 65 if I can hold up. If some elderly customer who considered me her favorite passes and leaves me a cool mil then NOW.

    1. True, you get more at 63, 64, or 65. You've paid into Soc Sec and Medicare and it is there for you. All yours. AND you can work part time if you get bored or need more cash. But you should check around for some financial advisor - keeping in mind that there are real good ones and shysters. Know the difference between "what are your retirement needs" and
"Its your money and have a got a deal for you" . Another new battery for us today. Better now than at zero degrees. 5 year warranty. I said "What if the wife drives the truck?" Guy says
"lock the doors", other guy says warranty don't like wives and the girl behind the counter says "I'm gonna tell her". Small town advice.

    2. Biggest budget item for me right now is Yonkers property tax. That can put a crater in your bank account. For that price they should give me free yardwork or something. Got an equity line of credit in the mail. Threw it out but noted my home's value. Maybe I need to talk to Suze Orman or Tom Selleck.

  9. I hear you. Ours is around $2000/yr. County was late sending 2nd half amount. We have to call to see what we owe. A lot of ours is schools
(state doesn't believe in them) and the one snow plow. Sewer, garbage, recycling extra. Elon could go broke here.

  10. That's nothing. In Yonkers you could owe anywhere from $1,300-$2,000 in 3 installments so you're talking a few thou each year not counting the annual Westchester County tax at around $750 which ain't that bad but tack that on to the property tax. Hell I ain't even Musk's cousin.

  11. Hasten to add you can sign up for the Star Rebate program but I always feel the check could be a lot higher for what they take out.

  12. Neighbor has a triple lot, house, 4 car garage and two 2 story shops.
His property taxes take care of our block. I've never figured out why
he parks his pickup, jetboat and trailers outside.

  14. I'd keep an eye on retirement plans. Musk and Ramaswammy want to trim $2 trillion off the Fed budget. There isn't much there, given that most is Social Security, Medicare and Defense. I doubt they cut off old folks already on, but clearly they will look at retirement age, maybe up it, maybe raise the payroll tax etc. You paid in, it's yours, but -

  15. Maybe work 'til you drop. I also see they're considering the twice yearly clock changes to end it. An eclectic bunch.

  16. I see Anthem was gonna limit coverage for anesthesia but then walked that back. Colonoscopies while wide awake? Trump - been there done that.

  18. Had propofol during my colonoscopy. When I woke up I said to the medical people in the room no wonder Michael Jackson liked that stuff. Nobody laughed. Dour group.

  19. I probably did as well. Besides knocking you out, it erases memory of the affair once the drip starts. 750 trials before it was released. Periodontist told me that there was no antidote, but once the drip stopped you come to. He had to have a license and training. Of course I kidded around a lot with the dental people, but didn't want to with the guy with the TV camera on a hose. My tale of woe, some years back went in for a colonoscopy. Nurse comes in says strip and adds, when "I was a little girl I lived next door to you. We thought it was funny that you mowed your lawn while smoking a pipe." They
started the drip and I forgot the rest.

  20. When you go to the vet the first time you always have to sign that anesthesia waiver unless you want your pet tested for possible reactions first. Always paperwork.

    2. Carville boldly predicted a Kamala Harris win. You'd think he'd shut up for awhile.

    3. Predicting stuff is dicey. Last week some guy that never missed a prediction announced aliens would take over on Wednesday.
The entire media predicted Dewey would beat Truman

    4. Conspiracy theorists have predicted a fake alien invasion for some time now, a false flag event to cause mass panic and usher in a one-world government. Never seems to get off the ground though.

    6. I think now society is the opposite everybody is too jaded now. Remember quite recently in fact UFOs now UAPs and alien finds were in the news a lot. Whistleblower before Congress the works. The government seemed on the verge of declaring ETs exist and we may have some. They talked about it on the radio for two days at most now you don't hear about it. If Orson were alive and did that today people would just change the channel.
