Maybe money really does grow on Trees after all

President Obama has pledged $100 mil to help the Haitian earthquake victims. I've no problem with the sum, with its necessity BUT we don't even have the funds for health-care "reform" and the rest, we're running at a deficit and a massive one at that. You know the way your Mom told you to save money when you were growing up? imagine if the government did that! they'd have $$$$ left over for a rainy day.

Phantom menaces

It's when Glenn and Rush are always saying things like "they're trying to silence us", well you're still talkin' ain't ya? Pornmakers pull this too, will often tag on some ad for the Free Speech Coalition, "if you're a fan of XXX-rated entertainment here's what you do" but you're still makin' porn aint you? In one case the threat is supposed to come from the uber-Left, in the latter social conservatives I guess. Rush has been saying the same thing, this conspiracy against him for how many years now and I can't remember the last time he wasn't on the dial barring vacations of course or the last time there was an obscenity prosecution in this country. Did some large vat of LSD somehow make its way into our water supply?

The overimportance of education

Friend said to me the other day "what about going back to school to get a better job?" but folks often miss the mark. You have higher-level bosses with business degrees who sorely lack the common sense and besides basic fairness should apply across-the-board in any workplace low or high, has nothing to do with advanced degrees.

People who say that's besides the point

When engaged in debate or argument or discussion with someone I like to rotate the issue just like a globe, rotation of the issue, spin it around and flip it back to them and that's where your "that's besides the point" comes in. They resent you're showing them another side or angle to the issue. Joe Biden and Harry Reid, if you combine their two past statements on Race (I know I know, keep the two separate, you're fudging the mathematical equation) are really saying that the clean and articulate African-American without the Negro dialect is really not the norm but that's besides the point.

  1. WHEW!!! it's always nice to get the N-word off the front blog for quotational purposes at other blogs I mean. While Malcontent and Wingnuts or something apparently agree with each other that what Reid said is not racist I think a strong case can be made that the comments are for the reason I just mentioned. It'd be like saying "she's an intelligent and articulate blond" instead of just "she's intelligent and articulate" know what I'm sayin'?

  2. Well maybe Glenn and Rush are still talking because they warned people about those trying to silence them, and so their followers made it known to the powers that be that they would be unhappy if their favorites were silenced.

But you gotta love the people that try to make Glenn into a kook, and his response, yeah a multi-million dollar company like Fox News is going to keep a kook on their payroll.

  3. You simply have no idea what you are talking about, and because your grammar is so poor, I don't either.

  4. Well the thing with phantom menaces is just that, they never materialize. Sure there be some that want Glenn and Rush off the air but most folks just go about their day-to-day, ain't gonna happen. I think Glenn and Rush need to stop with the "they're out to get us" mantra.

Precisely why I've no intention of donating a single dime towards the humanitarian effort.

  6. You are probably the most consistent conservative blogger out there soapie. Now let's say we had no deficit, maybe even a surplus so the issue would then become should we send over the $100 mil to help Haiti knowing full well we'd be entering the deficit stage if we did. Many if not most people would say it'd be worth it, I wouldn't argue with that but as things stand now we already have a deficit, we're still fighting TWO wars so where in hell does this money come from? IF you keep printing money when you need it you cause inflation down the road by overinflating the money supply, the Chinese are getting impatient with us to pay off the debt we already owe so HOW can the government just write a check for a cool 100 mil?

  7. I get that lable applied to me quite a bit [consistent conservative] and while it is probably in most instances implied as a compliment, I don't necessarily apply it to myself. I strive for consistency indeed but I don't really look at it in terms of conservatism unless of course the conservation is to individual liberty.

The fact of the matter is that it is not the government's money to spend (this of course to say they even had the currency in hand which they of course do not).

Were the United States absolved of all of its debt obligations, there would thus likely be an incentive for individual Americans to give charitably towards the relief effort. However, as it is, I and my fellow Americans are already in grave debt for a great many humanitarian causes around the globe.

Be it known that some will indeed declare my attitude as "selfish" but I would rebut them by reminding them that it is the individual who stakes claim to another's existence by asserting they've a "moral obligation" to serve as a means to an end not of their own.
