Why didn't Yogi say that?

Hillary told Chuck Todd on Meet the Press "the unborn person doesn't have constitutional rights."  I pass a Planned Parenthood on my way to work every day and they have a big banner "Health Care Happens Here."  Makes it sound like I can walk in and maybe they can treat my catastrophic tinnitus and premature waking.  This is not really a pro-life thread, you can discuss what have you.

  1. Conservative Catholics aside, the Pope seems to enjoy widespread popularity. For example, he is rated favorable by Catholics 90%, Protestants 60% and non-religious 68%.
You gotta go some to get that high a rating from the NR crowd. Sort of interesting, he is also highly regarded across the political spectrum: conservatives 67%, moderates
73% and liberals 74%. While some Catholic purists decry
their leader, we ponder the popularity of Bill Donahue.

  2. I kinda like him too. Donohue seems angry all the time. He'll look at a box of Pop Tarts and say they're anti-Catholic.

  3. So my thing now is I wake up at maybe 3 or 4AM and am pondering life's problems, two or three at the same time instead of falling back asleep. They say that adult beverages sometimes have a rebound effect.

  4. I kinda opt for an honest blog over a socially and politically correct blog even at the expense of losing a couple of readers. Honestly there isn't much in the news these days besides Trump and Hillary.

    1. There is a lot of minor news around. Out this way a
deputy stopped a speeding woman, 45 in a 35. She was
upset, naturally, and was taking her mother to a chemo
session. The cop went back and rather than writing out a ticket, went back to the mother's side listened to her cancer story and offered to pray with them.
Which they all did. End of story, except the woman
posted the story on facebook, clearly touched by the
incident. The deputy when asked about it, said his mother died of cancer. I guess that's news?

  5. My sitemeter sucks. I might average now around three hits a day but when I check my stats page it's alot better with many more pageviews. One referring url seems to be a maturesexblog. Dunno why 'cept maybe because I talk about other things besides politics. A recent story or study about lsd. Seems it works to unify the brain the different regions and everything. My bad experience in the late 90's when I was unwittingly dosed it discombobulated me then when it happened at work a few years later it was half that bad experience but you're more in control which probably has to do with you build up a tolerance for it. My main theory has always been it's caused my tinnitus or made it worse over the years but doctors don't seem to like to get into dark subjects.

  6. Sitemeter/hits: you could use your tech savvy and hack into
the Blog Luvin App . Just write a little code that puts 'Stranded' always at the top of their list.

  7. I'm working on key words in my post-titles to get a better google search going. Maybe I'll do a really dry post on Paul Ryan's decision to not go for the nomination or the unions' push for a $15 minimum wage but entitle it Erotic Massage.

    1. That idea would cost you $10,000 if it came from a
Wall Street advertising firm. Software exists which
scans the most popular keywords for target audiences,
but it ain't free. We guess that 'great recipes' would attract old widows, 'Condensed Tesh Advice' would lower your current meter and 'Turbocharging the
Skateboard' would attract grade schoolers. The wage
situation is basic: employees what as much as they can get, employers want it as low as possible (except
for their CEO's of course) Guess I got the 'Bern'.

  9. Microsoft is really pushing Windows 10. They downloaded it
twice unto my computer today, each time taking 1.5 hours.
I uninstalled it and had to drive over to the computer shop to find out how to keep Microsoft from running my computer.
...and Apple tries to protect terrorists! Curious, I googled 'How Windows 10 ruined my life' and got 1,420,000
hits. Then Microsoft popped up and wanted to change my google search to a bing search. A curse on Bill Gates and his kind. :)

  10. Google always points out how many times I've visited a certain webpage like it tries to point out an obsession or something. OK so I heavily researched colonoscopies.

  11. What I don't like about doctors bringing up the subject is it's an emotional reminder you're over 50. It's not so much the procedure, ok man up but your life is winding down and life is short. Pretty soon you'll be on the table with some mortuary grad. Depressing I know.

    2. Oh I googled the subject of gay stalkers. I'm not saying it's a funny subject, it's not but one entry might read "I was working out in the gym the other day..." You're in the restroom at some rest stop off the Interstate and some guy is peeking over...

  12. If a life is snuffed out in the womb then she's 100% correct. It's so sad to see such a total disregard for life. What's more, to see her and Obama or Bush etc. get on TV and go on an on about the sanctity of life following a mass shooting is such a disgrace. You know how many lives those drone strikes have killed? Neither do I but it's a lot.

On the subject, Poland is considering a total ban.

      induced.

    5. Here's an interesting take... In Nevada, our abortion and unwanted pregnancy rates have dropped like 20% since our GOP Gov Brian Sandoval accepted the ACA, or Obamacare.

It mandates access to birth control.

Now we a lot fewer abortions.

But the conservatives are not happy, because they do not like the way we got there.

For them, since people are still having sex, even the desired end result, cannot be celebrated.

Can anyone please explain this to me???

    6. One thing I'll say about how it's been going lately. I don't contribute much to the abortion rate:)

    1. If I occasionally sound edgy cranky irritable in a dark mood in my blogging it's the tinnitus. When I do get insomnia the icing on the cake is you're lying there in bed and you hear the tinnitus. Maybe it'll go towards time off from purgatory.

    2. Have you seen the clip of Shatner and Letterman discussing their experiences with tinnitus?
I know a lot of shooters that have tinnitus, along
with loss of hearing, just from the loud gunfire.
(Like pipe smokers, they just keep at it, though)

    3. I remember an interview Shatner did about the subject when he said it got so bad he actually contemplated suicide. The noise I have is not your typical ringing which might be worse since this is at least a more varied noise and I also have a problem with fluorescent lights. Didn't know Letterman has it.

    1. I understand that is good for the urinary tract as well. How much do you have to drink? The stuff contains salicylic acid, which also reduces swelling, prevents bloodclots and and has anti tumor effect.
(salicylic acid is also known as aspirin, BTW). Hope
that takes care of the tinnitus.

    2. I go with at least 18 oz. but I usually drink more than that. Cranberry juice in its purest form is hard to drink fast so now I mix it with ginger ale. Of course being organic it's more expensive than the regular stuff.

  18. They think its something between the auditory portion of the brain and the auditory apparatus in the ear. Scientific
research continues to fail; homeopathic remedies (or placebos) much of the time it associated with hearing lose fail and a lot of tinnitus sufferers keep trying to lesson
their problem. I ran across a man who reported:
" Church found his own cheap, simple workaround, suggested by his wife: radio static. One evening when he was tormented by tinnitus, she gave him an inexpensive personal radio and told him to put on the headphones.
"So I put it on, and I turned it on, and I put it between stations — immediate relief. Oh, my God, this is amazing. I went from being a basket case to being able to function for the rest of the evening within minutes."
Now, Church says, he's able to largely ignore the tinnitus at work, and turns to the radio static for relief in the evening. It's a lot like living next to an airport. "When you first move in, you hear the planes go over every day. But after you live there for a while, you figure that noise is not important to me. 'Cause the planes are going to continue to come, they're not going to crash into my house. It just happens to be where I live. So before you know it, you don't hear the planes anymore."
--which you might try. My own sleep pattern is much better
with a 'noise generator' play all night, waterfalls, brooks and crickets. My problem as a light sleeper was that
every little noise would wake me up. So, it is possible
that your tinnitus might respond to earphones at night or
when walking...not music or news, but some random boring
    noise.

    1. Given the state of research, data and information,
the ratiocinative approach is moot. The tinnitus
patient is left to individual empiricism: what works for some, fails for others. Small wonder that most physicians avoid it.

  19. Big news story - our nation's suicide rate is at a 30 year high with a marked increase in middle-aged white people. IMO the researchers put too much emphasis on economic factors like job loss when by the middle-age mark people have alot of emotional baggage like divorce under their belt. Add alcohol and drugs which magnify issues so I think it's a combination of things. Like Peggy Noonan once said people think they have the right by birthright to be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I heard the rate went up highest in girls age 11-14. Sad a
kid would be in such desperate straits.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Part of that might have to do with cyberbullying. I've sometimes thought of the to be or not to be question in a theoretical sense but have always come to the conclusion life is short anyway. I think with this suicidal subgroup there's an extreme tunnel vision of looking at a certain problem/situation from a very rigid pov. Interestingly the rate is lowest among black males but they're too busy getting shot.
